Regular meeting of the Fairfax to council held thig
16th day of Feb. , 1970.
All councilmen present with Mayor Shakespeare presiding.
Minutes of the January 19 meeting were read and approved.
Warrants approved as follows:
general 904 thru. 920
water 624 thru 639
sewer 349, thru 351
Architect Joel Johnson was present to discuss the final
ddtails on the fire station project.
On motion - by Austin and xecond by VaVroch, it was unanaimously
approved to accept the Plans and Specifications and Form
of Contract as presented by Johnson.
March 17, 1970 at 800 PM was set as the time for opening of
bids on the fire station building at the Town Hall, and the
clerk was instructed to have the proper notices published
as per separate proceedings relative to the con-1-1-ract letting
as prepared by the bond attorngryq Robert Helmick.
Fire Chief Carver was present and reported that the new fire
truck chassis, a 1970 Chevrolet, is on order from Grovert
Motor Co. and should be delivered in about a month. Carver
reported that the Firemen conducted an election of officers
and the results were as follows-

Ass 't. Chiefs, Ronald Stallman and Charles Yanecek
Their term off office would be to the end of 19709 with
new election being in December, 1970 for the following year,.
This new term would then coincide with the Council & mayor
terms of office. Patrick Knebel was confirmed as a newly
appointed fireman.
A discussion relative to hiring John, Zamastil for work on the
water and sewer plant was had. It was decided that in order
to obtain certification, the town m uld pay Zamastil mileage
of $.10 per mile while driving to and from Mahchester fear the
purpose of attending classes, and also to pay him the agreed
on hourly rate or time in class.
On motion by Austin and second by Karal, it was decided that
the town would pay an amount up to $100. from the Sanitation
fund toward the Linn Co. Rubella fund,p said amount to be
reduced by the amount collected by the local Campfire girls,
Clerk instructed to draft a letter relative to junk collections
and the conditions of containers as well as their locations.
No further business, meeting adjourned.
