HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/18/1970 Council Minutes May 189 1970 Regular meetinf! of the Fairfax Town Council held May 18, 1970 at 7: 00 PH. Presiding was Na or Shakespeare. All councilmen present. Xinute,s of the April 20 meeting read and approved. The treasurers report read and approved. Warrants approved as follows ; general 948 thru 955 water 650 thru 655 ,sewer 359 thru 361 Warren Ackley, town attorney, was present to answer questions relative to the lease the town has with St . Patrick Church. Delbert Neese presented to the; council his- proposal to amend the junk collection a gyreement . It was agreed that the monthly rate for residential, be increased to $1.95 and commercial remain at $3.00 per month® The date for col section be changed to Monday instead of Thursday. Clerk instructed to send a letter to all town residents explaining the change . The limit on quantity of junk has been removed and no further charge will be made over the above rates even when additional trips are necessary, Said action was adopted on a motion by Karal and seconded by Austin with unanimous approval on roll call vote. Street repair for the year was briefly discussed with no action taken toward any major project® Clerk instructed to contact Howell relative to his agreement from 1969. The playground and recreation program discussed. it was agreed that the council would reservet he right to shorten the period of time the playground instructor would be employed , based on attendance and participation in general® Mayor indicated he would hire a director, and this approval granted by the council. The pay was to remain the same as last year, $45.00 per week. The hiring of an assistant was left open. The plat submitted, by John E. Murphy eta l, which had been approved by the "Planning & Zoning Commission, was unanimously approved by the council . Said plat pertains to the location of building sites located on the north side of Linn St. on land owned by Hurphy.
