Mayor Shakespeare presiding with councilmen Karal, Vavroch, A . Stallman and J. Stall an present. Austin absent. It was agreed that the joints in the paved streets should be se led prior to winter and contact was to be made with the firm that built the street relative to this maintenance. Further discussion relative to the pay of John Zama stil was had. -The co-unc-ill had offered $3.0. 0 per hour at the last meeting and Mayor re-ports that this is n acceptable to Zamastil. He wants U-50 per hour. It wEs agreed that the town could not afford to pay this rate at this time? and that a notice should be posted relative to the opening of the job and that, the Mayor would interview any applicant, prior to the regular meeting for October. Mayor reported that Deputy Linn County ::Sheriff Serbouselk has received a promotion and as a result he will no be the regular deputy serving this a rea . His replace-yr-ent is -not yet known but will be in the near future. Mayor read a petition filed by Kenneth Sokol., signed by several citizens expressing their conce.m for w7hz3t appears to be a lack of police patrol and effective enfrucement in the Town of Fairfax. It was agreed that even though it would require additional manpower, it may be de�iridable to visit with Sheriff Grant and determine what may be done in this area . A meeting with Grant was to be set up at the first opportunity. Richard Kendall 's, request to the P. & :Z. Commission -regarding the operation of A T. 7. repair shop at his property on the co Pr of Church & 149 was approved by the P . e,ry, Z. Commission, said recommendation b y tie P . &. Z. to the To-ym, is accepted. Some discussion as to the use of the old fire station after it is no longer needed for fire tr-acks, led to the possibility of tthe town using it for storage until a -suitable building could be constructed on the Barnett property. No definite decision made at this tine. Clerk reported on the possibility of a recjuest by interested buyers of the Murphy land for the use of housing would be forthcoming, No further sins s s, meeting, adjourned. Mayor Clerk
