Regular meeting of the Town Council held Jan. 18, 1971.
Mayor Shakespeare presided with all councilmen present®
The minutes of the Dec . 21, 1970 and Jan- 49 1971 meetings
were read and approved.
Wayne Schoff fram 3choff Const. Co. ard Joel Johnsonp architect,
were ppesent to discuT7 the final details cn the fire station
construction. Several specific items ralktive to the building
was discussed with answers provfiel b7 the 00ntraOtOr- Such
things as naintenanoe and Fpsnificationz were discunned,
The architect recormended that final and full paynent be made
to Schoff Cons t. CO, Johnson further stated and reviewed the
general provigions, as to warranty and bonding provisions that
would continue to protect the owner in the event of building
failure . In addition to these items a written list of the
items relativo to the building that bad been in contention wool
sub fitted with the express gnarantee by the contractor that
he would correct any discrepancy or shortcoming that would become
apparent relbtive to these iteml -
After a rather lengthy and somewhat heated disoussiong it was
moved&seoonded that the building be accepted as recommended by
Architect Joel Johnson, and that full payment be rade to Schaff
Construction Co. Said motion made by Austin, meconded. by Burger
with unanimcus approval on roll call vote as followsz .Au tins
Eurger and Mall an and Vavrooh voting yes. Karal had left the
meeting just prior to this vote and was not preeent,
The above side agreement was exacuted' by the contractor, architect
and town and each party reHived a copy of same,
Three candidates for the iob of Town Clerk were considered/
Evel7n Carver, Virginia Soukup and Betty Austin. At this point
Betty Austin excused herself and was absent for the balance of
the meeting® Discussion was had relative to thisa ppointment
with acknowledgement that all three candidates are capable of
handling the job as T Clerk® After a lengjhy discussion;
a motion made seconded and unanimously approved to appoint
Virginia Soukup as Town Clerk for the term ending Dec . 31 , 1971.
Salary was left open for the Mayor to further discuss.
Evelyn Carver was appbinted Town Treasurer for the year 1971
with salary of $/Aeo per 'gear®
The application for Class B Beer permit of Charles J. Boland
effective Feb. 10, 1971 was approved pending the filing of piroper
feesp bond and completed aPPliaaticn-
Treasurers report pr4sented and approved,
Warrants approved as follows :
