Sam Snell appeared before the council for their reconsideratzoxn of his application
for a dance permit for Sam 's Lounge. Mr Ackley town attorney, stated that
Section 358 Iowa Code (Covering the general powers of the town) gives the town
council authority to approve or disappoove of any license to dance and does not
need a specificate reason. Ronald Burger made motio n sines the town code states
the council has 30 days after preserntatioD to approve, or disapprove such a license that
it be tabled until next meeting, 2nd by Marry Stallman Carried.
Clerk instructed to take application to Bill Serbousek, town marshal, for his
reconrodations and findings per town .ordinance
Joel Johnson Architect, attended meeting, in regard to heating problems and other
matter regarding the construction of the fire station,. Mr Johnson is to arrange
for a impartial committee,, of a disign engineer, heating man and furnace
manufactures representive to study and come up with a solution to the heating
problem in the council rook, The council is to approve of the findings of
this speical committee, Fireman to make up a punch 'list of other needed reworking
and Mr Johnson will see that it is taken care of.
M otion to change council meeting dates tothe 1st and 3rd. Thursday of every
month wade by Frank Karal 2nd By Ronald Burger. Carried.
Motion to accept Gordon Sorg and William Morrow on Fire Department made by
Ronald Vavroch 2nd by Harry Stallmarn® Carried
Representives of the Fire, Department presented to the council their list of
items for consideration in the budget® Open house at the new station is now
planned for .Tune 27 from IPM to 5PM.
Myrle D ietzenbacb present to ask i_bat council include in this years budget
money for a street light on the corner by his home,
Clerk instructed to get letter out to all residence of Fairfax for their
opinion on the operation of a playground program this summer.
Council ask Mr Ackley for an opinion as to the liablilty of the town or
property owner in case of accident in regard to private citizens placing
a low type of barrack between the traveled portion of the roadway and the
,sidewalk to keep cars off the parking, Mr Ackley to inform council of his
findings.
Vance 'Hall present to ask council to waive the portion of the ,zoning laws
in, regard to the placement of a garage less than 25 feet from thefront property
