The regular meeting of the Fairfax 'Town Council was held on October 7, 1971
Mayor Shakespeare presiding, all councilmen present.

Wallace Selzer fromthe planning and zoning attend meeting to report to
council on their meeting of October 6, 1971. p & Z recommend that Er
Mrs R L Wood be aloud to keep horses on their property. permit is to
°ead horses and not livestock xmd, as livestock covers to great a
area. The following members of P & Z tended their resignation as of i
October 6, 1971 they are, Myron Burger, Crri.e Waych,off, &- Wallace Selzer
New members to be recommend at November -meeting
Motion to approve of special permit for beeping horses on their property
by the R L Woods wade by betty austin, 2nd R Tismc Vavroch. Carried
Mrs Dick Lehner, Mrs Bob grger and Mrs Richard Peterson attended meeting
as representives from the Fairfax Friendly Homemakers Club to inquiry
of the Town. Council if they would be in favor of a town public Library
Council was in agreement that this would be good for our town and that
they should come hack, to the council when they have more solid and
specific plays then the council will be able to wake recosmmodati.ons
and possible help®
Bids on tires for fire trucks were opened and read as follows.

Fire Chief Yaneeek that Dean Hamiltion be approved as a new firemen
Motion to approve of Dean Hamilton made by Ron Vavroch 2nd Betty Austin Carried
Motion to approve bills made by R Burger, 2nd R Vavroch. & approval 1 abstain..
Capital Improvement program for town of Fairfax discussed and Clark appointted
as coordinator with the Linn County Reginal planning Commission for the
purpose of updating and checking can funds available for projects
Bud Burger, Mayor Shakespeare and garage owner Keith Sankot to check on car
engine to run auxilary pump and lift station.
Report that Sass Snell is bringing out from Cedar Rapids loads of rip rap for
ggoon and creeds bank in Lagoon area. They only charge to the town will be the
freight at approximately $1.00 per tort
Mr Ackley attended meeting to go over with council the changes in the ordinances
As special meeting held on Sept 23 with Mr Ackley and Council was not official
because of lack of quoram. Several changes are to be made. Discussion also
held with Mr Ackley in regard to the Fire Station cons ruction.
