W= letter from Mayer Ganney of Cedar Rapids Asking that the co,incil pass a Ih ndence dogleg resolution in regard to the placement of hi, way 380 via indepe Tabled for further consideration 6 members of the Fairfax Friendly Romemakes Club attended in regard toLibrary Mrs Nellie Neafie from the Seven Rivers Library system was present to further explain the necessary items needed to start a library in Fairfax, She s-pated that some tax money must be used to be able to establish our library as a public library. By joining the 7 Rivers 11brary System the library would have access on a loqn basis to many volurans of books. The council or mayor should appoint a library board of 7 to 9 members. After a lenghty question and answer period Ron Vavroch made the mot i6a that the Fairfax Town Council do establish a Fairfax 'Library and designate it to be the Fairfax Public Library, 2nd R Burger Roll Call vote Austin Yes Burger Yes Stallman Yes Vavroch Yes 4 yea's I absent carried Mrz Do C. Neuhaus present to explain the Fairfax State Savings Bank's position in. regard to the Fairfax Libtary. The bank has agreed to put the old bank bldg. in a reasonable good condition such as fixing the widdvws and the roof. They would carry the insurance on the building at least anether year. it would be -kip to vo lunteers to remodel inside of bldg, and maintane it. Ronald Burger made motion that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to enter into a tent free lease agreement with the Fairfax State Savings Bank for old bank bldg as use as the Fairfax Public Library for a period from 12,128171 to 12/31/72 .nd Betty kustin Carried on roll call vote 4 yea*s I absent. Mayor Shakespeare has ask that 'the Fairfax Friendly Homemakers Club present a list of possible members for library board for his consideration. Fire Chief Yaneeek and Ortille Smith attended meet ng for expliination and discussion of yearly -pay for fireman. Here after all so called labor charges are to be submitted on a quarterly basis instead of at the end of the year. Amendment to lease aggreement with St Patrick's Church on the baseball diamond ice skating rink was received from attorney's office. on motion by Betty Austin 2nd by R Burger the 'lease was accented and signed by mayor and clerk. R Vavroch made motion that the Fairfax Baseball Association, during the sue months have first piarity on the use of the baseball diamond area. All other must have special permit to use this area. 2nd J StallmaD carried Council granted Dan Shakespeare a leave of absebbs of 3 months so he C an make a t south. Milo Kubasa will handle some of his duties -while he is gone, Motion to approve dinner tickets for meeting at Carouis I Inn a t Coraville for members of the council wishing to attend made by R Burger 2 R Vavroch Carried., Mr Neuhaus held a discussion with the cozincil on the recent letter from Iowa Fund in regard to the exercising of their option to purchase a portion of a 6 acre site i located between quarry and lagoon. R Vavroch made motion that council approve li of the exercise of option by Iowa Fund to purchase 4.06 acres at $400.00 per acre withthe stipulation that the option on the remaining 2.06 acres be cancelled. 2nd J Stallman Vavroch Nos Austin I absent carried..
