Special Meeting of the Fairfax Town Coi)ncil was� "held 2/2-3/73. M yor Shake pearl
presiding. A-1.1 Councilmen present.
Purpose of meeting: *p; Police and Law Enforcement for the City of Fairfax
Council was advised that the Veterans Protective Assoc. that provides us with
Police Protection has been ordered by the Department of Public Safety of the
State of Iowa that they are in violation of their private detectiv--'e" license
by their work in our town and must stop the pr,atice at once. Therefore
leaving the town without official police protection.
Mayor Shakespeare lead a discussion with the co, ncil in regard to this matter.
The co ncil was in general agreement that a contract (to be written and then
approved by legal council) be offer to James Poorbaugh, who at the present time
is employed by the town in a part time basis. Final approval and decision will
be made at regular council meeting March 1, 1973.
-Lease agreement with Chicago Northwestern Railroad for a parchel 15 feet wide
and 1 ,325 ' long was signed. 5 year lease $50.0f0® This ground is the
.lower edge of the north edge of sewer lagoon.
Easment signed and sent to Iowa -Electric Light Company for them to place a
light pole on City owned property in the Lagoon Area,
