ORDINANCE . PTI ,TE R. FOR THE CITY OF FAIRM, IOWA
EMOYDING THE EXIST111V FORM OF GOVERMENT ONf- 1973
Be it Enacted by the Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa
Section 1. Purpose Tae purpose of this ordinance is to provide for a
charter a boding? The form of goverreent existing on Marcia 1, 1913
Section 2, Charter'. This ordinance ay be cited sas the Charter of the
City of Fairfax, Iowa
Section 3. Form of Goverment. The farm of government of the City
of Fairfax, Iowa is Mayor-Council form of government.
Section 4. Powers and i tie` The council and mayor and other city
officers have such powers and shall perform such duties as are authorised
or required by state law and by the ord.inancew resolutions, rules, and
regulations of the City of Fairfax, Iowa.
Section 5. Number and Term of Council. The council consist of five(5
councilmen elected at lar ei. They are elected for terms of two (2) years.
Section 6. Term of Mazor. The Mayor is elected for a term of
two (2) years,
Section 7. Copies on File. The City Clem shall keep an official
copy of the Charter on file with the Official records of the Pity Cler4,
shall immediately file a copy with the Secretary of State of Iowa, and
shall keep copies of the Charter available at tx°;e City Clarks office
for public inspection.
Section S. When Effective. This ordinance is in effect after its
final passage, approya1, and publication as required by law..
