Mr R Johnson from the Linn Ceunty Building De' partm-ent attened meeting in regard to uniform building codes. it is possible for City of Fairfax to contract with the Linn County Bldg Dept for inspections on new buildings. At present they have a con ract with Marion and do their inspections. Fee's for this service were discussed. A typical example on any average home kWM the rate a w ould be about $125.,00 (65 to 85,00 building_ins ection, $20 electrical $18 Mechanical $15 plumbing.) Builders would have to submit two sets of plans to them. There would be two inspection --rought-Ln --and final, These !fee's would be collected from the balmeowner. City would have to have uniform building ordinance also, electrical, mechanical, & plumbing ordinances before any of the above could be done. This will not do away with the "home-owner do it your se!lfer". They can take a test and if the Linn Ce Bldg Dept finds they are knowledgeable in the field of endeavor they way proceed.
