The regular nee ang of the fairIDfax City Council was held 3/2/78. Mayor
Stallman presiding. Councilmen R. Carver, L. Patterson, K Hanks, V. Cerveny
present. R Stillman absent.
Minutes of previous meeting approved but toshow the following correction-
"recommondation by K Hanks to amemd motion to read—approval of rezoning
fro _RI to R3 upon approval from Farmers Home"--amendment not accepte .
Dave Selzer representative from the Americana Le ion odtlined the HeyDay78
activities for the council. It w311be held 6/16 a.nd 6/1778 are will have
approximately the same program as :Last year.
Fire Chief Charlie Yanecek ask council for their approval to use the fire
truck for a waterbaZl kjgbt to be held during HeyPay. Council gave approval
on coalition that at least 3 qualified Fairfax fireman are in atteradence with
'the truck and that there is not the same dry conditions of Last summer.

Discussion held with Father Arquitt, Trustees Ben Stallman and Curtis Selzer,
in regard to purchase of ball diamond from St Patric s. A tentative figure of
$50,000 was set. Two appraisals will have to be secured before offer to
purchase is given, as this is required if ire get the Conservation Commission
Grant.

Discussion with Deputy Nfest Q regard to the 'eity purchasing our own Radar
Unit. A present time we can purc=hase a K-55 throu ht the Linn County Sheriffs
Dept for 474.50. If City would purchase a unit they would need to have some
control over when it is used and haw often. They do tact wat the city to be
known as a radar trap, On Motion of R. Carver 2nd T" Cerveny city to purchase
a Radar unit. Carried.
Clerk to contact Capt.. Smith and arrange one day s Meek to have a deputy on
duty from 3 to midni*tit and the other four days the regular night hours.
Sidewalk repairs discussed. No decision on repairs until new ordiance book is
approved but the crossing at Main and Park is in meed of repairs as are other
especially on Vanderbilt between Railroad and Main. Clearing of trees on
creek bank tattled.
