Regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held ,April 1, 1952. Mayor J.
Stallman presiding. Councilmen present Carver, Feight, Shake-seare & Josifek
Absent Cerveny. Fifteen citizens were in attendence.
Minutes of previous meeting; approved and placed on file. Clerks budget and
financial report approved and placed on file. Receipts Generol Fund $5,549.50,
Water Dept 1,993.24A Sewer Dept 4,128.98, Garbage fees 532.00
Gary Vennetnen from. Farmers Roue Administration 'discussed with council the
possiblity of financing the sewer improvement project through his agency.
Bob Fredericks, Green Engineering and Scott Mcleod city attorney was also
in attendence at the meeting.
Hey day plans, specifically in regard to traffic and parkin; control was
discussed with Linn County Sheriff_ Sawyer. Motion presented by Nancy Josifek,
2nd Jim Feight giving legion permission to park cars on the North end of
the St Fats school property that city has leased. No cars are to be parked
on the outfield of the ball diamond. Carried. (Resolution for one side of street parking.
Improvements at city park discussed. on motion presented by H. Shakespeare will be
2nd R. Carver a privacy fence to be installed in front of rest room doors and taken up
the home run fence is to be extended to west property lines A Foot path at May
gate to be left in fence by rest rooms. Carried, meetin
On motion of li. Shakespeare 2nd J. Feight ball diamond maintence to be handled
by the base ball team and any major repairs that peed to be made will be
taken care of by the city. Carried
City Clerk to put up notices at bank and postoffice in Bard to the hiring of
sane one to do the mousing of City property.
Discussion meld on notification from garbage hauler of increase in rates.
As this increase asking was received after budget was finalized, Clerk to ask
j Barker Sanitation to the May Council meeting for further discussion with them.
Power usher to be purchased on motion of U. Josifek„ 2nd R. Carver Carried.
Mrs Mark George ask permission to hold a Bike-A-°i on for the Giv. fund on
May 22nd® The route would be .around the "big," block of 'Park, Church St , Linn
and Fairfax Road from 1 P.M,, to approximately 3:30 P.M. Approval granted
on Motion of R. Carver 2nd J. Feight. Carried
Beer permit and Sunday permit for the Fairfax liandimart and the Baseball Assoc
was approved on motion of R. Carver, grad I. Shakespeare. Carried
Building permit -Selzer Construction- for single family dwelling approved
on motion of R. Carver 2nd J. Feight Carried.
City Hall will be cl®sed April 21,22, & 23rd, City Clerk will be attending State
Financd Officers meeting in Des Moines.
Bills approved ,on motion of N. Josifek, 2nd H_� Shakespeare. carried
