Minutes of previous meeting, Clerks report of budget & finances approved

water Dept $1,437.41 , Sewer Dept $4,272. 55, Garbage fees 520.50
Discussion of fence for tennis court. SEE-led bids to be received and opened at
Special Council meeting, on May 17th.
Ordinance 94 Amending 'Title iI, Chapter 2, Article 10, Section 2.1®2.1006
Paragraph 13. ";HAZAIRWITeD PARkTNG LOCATIONS" was presented and read the first
time. Councilmen R. Carver moved the approval of the Ordinance on w.ts first
reading and that the rule requiring three readings on three different days be
suspended and theOrd.ihance be placed on its second and third readings by its
title; seconded by Councilmen H..Shakes _?areYeas Carver, Cerveny, Josifek,
Shakespeare,peight. Trays none.
The ordinancd was then read the second and t a d tunes by its title,
Councilman N. Josfiek moved the adoption of the ordinances as reach;
seconded by 'Co ncilman V. Cerveny. All 'yeas .. Nays none, Mayor Stal.lman
declared ordinance adopted and in effect as prescribed by law.

of rate increases of 10 . ($4.40 per stop) Discussion. On motion of N. Josifek
a five (5) year contr=act with. a 61, increase eech ;year, subject to review and
adjustment at end of three (3) years. A'ppr'oved Voting: All Ayes .

Rand y Sluiter was recommended and hired for the position on motion of
Vernon Cerveny 2nd R. Carver, Voting: All Ayes Approved
Complaints received in, regard to property at 330 Main Street. culler to
be contacted and given 15 days to clean up the property, per motion of
U. Shakespeare 2nd -N. Josifek. Approved Voting- All Ayes
Application from American legion for permission to move their liquor license
from legion Hall to Beer tent for Hey De;y, June 1.8 and 19. Motion to approve
H . Shakespeare. 2nd V.Cerveny. Voting: All Ayes
Motion to approve agreement with .Linn County on street improvements for
North Fairfax Road made by R. Car'v°er 2nd V. Cerveny,. Payment of City Sbare
to be made in three payments (July 1.983, July 11984, Jsily 1985). 'Voting
Ayes, Carver, Cerveny, Shakespeare, Josifek, hays Feright Carried
Motion to approve agreement withtinn County on st e.-:�tLre0airs for
Cemetery Road West by H. Shakespeare 2nd V. Cerveny. Voting; All Ayes
Request for a Clean by day for the city was received. Tabled uhti.l
volunteers can be found to carry out the project.
,Tim Jakoubek requested a easement from the city to cross city property so
that he may file out his back yard. Motion to give easement by H. Shakespeare

Fairfax Volunteer dire Deft ask Chancel pe`rmission to hold a fireworks display
on the 4th of Julys Permission granted on motion of J. Feight 2nd V. Cerveny.

On notion of N. Josifek 2nd R. Carver, City Clerk to send letter to Cbicag,o
N. W. Railroad in regard to the fire hazard caused by weeds on their property
and railroad ties along the tracks.
City Cleric ask permission of council to hire Deputy Clerk & City Treasurer
Evelyn Carver for approximately 10 hours a month to help with the waterbilling.

Titter received from Fairfax Friendly Homemakers Club advising Council
that they wish to donated tothe City $100.00 towards the purchase of Volleyball
equipment for use at the park. Motion to accept gift made by J. Feight
2nd N. Josifek. Voting; All Ayes. Discussion on the question as to who

would be responsible for the checking in and out of this equipment has not
been settled, Letter to Club thanking them for gift and asking for suggestions
to help solve this problem.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE II, CHAPTER. 2., ARTICLE 10,
SECTION 2.1-2.1,006(13) , OF THE CITY CODE OF FAIRFAX,
IOWA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAICRFAX, IOWA
Section 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to amend
Title II, Chapter 2, Article 10, Section 2.1-2.1006(13) , of the City
Code of Fairfax, Iowa.
Section 2. Section 2. 1-2. 1006(13) of Title II, Chapter 2, Ar-
ticle 10, City Code of Fairfax, is repealed and the following adopted in
lieu thereof:
13. Hazardous Locations. At any place, where, because
of restricted visability or when standing, or parked
vehicles would constitute a hazard to moving traffic,
or when other traffic conditions require, the Mayor may
cause to be erected permanent or temporary no parking
or standing signs.
[Code of Iowa, Section 321.358(13)]
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
Adopted this day of 1982, and approved
on the same date.
