WHEREAS, Saturday, October 15, 1983, is designated by State Law as
White Cane Safety Day in Iowa, and
WHEREAS, the 1979 Code of Iowa provides that every blind citizen
has the right to carry the white cane, which demonstrates and symbolizes the
i
ability to achieve a full and independent life and the capacity to work productively
in competitive employment; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Law also provies that every operator of a motor vehicle
who encounters a blind pedestrian is required to exercise appropriate caution
to avoid accident or injury; and
WHEREAS, both State and Federal Law prohibit discrimination based
on blindness and support equal opportunity and affirmative action programs to
encourage employment of blind persons in the competitive labor force;

Fire.TDept. was not adrmnitted as a member of the Linn County Fire Assoc because
they are not equipt to give mutual aid to the other departrrments in tine Association,n motion of V. Cerveny 2nd J. F°eight:, the Fairfax Fire Dept will respond to calls
from Cedar Terrace Mobile Home only in Life threating situations and omen with
only 3 men and water .ttanl er. Carried. City Clerk to notify Clinton Township
trustees of this decision as Cedar Terrace contracts with Clinton Township
for providing their owns fire protection.
Results of the recant smoke test of the sewer lines was discussed. On motion of
N. Josifek, 2nd V. Cervenym City Clerk to send letters to all those affected
asking permission to invest gate further for possible infiltration. As this is
a City wade effort and would appreciate everyones cooperation® Carried
