The regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held 7 /5/84 at
7 : 00 P . M . Mayor Feight presiding . 6buncil present : Balog , Berryhill
Josifek, Otto , Zamastil .
Minutes of the previous meeting approved on motion of N . Josifek,
2nd B . Otto . Letter from Mr & Mrs Ed . Blummer read thanking the City
and in particular City employee Ron Dusil and volunteers for the help
they received after the wind storm . , City Clerk to send letter from
Council to Ron thanking him for his help that night .
Fire Chief K . C . Waychoff informed council that the department had
decided ' on the purchase of Motorola Radio ' s for the pumper and
tanker , and that a portable water holding tank needs to be purchased .
On motion of B . Otto Fire Dept . to order these items , 2nd B . Balog
Carried .
Street Committee reported that they had checked the streets with a
representative from Prairie Roadbuilders . List of streets given to
Council for their consideration. Motion by N* Josifek 2nd John
Zamastil that Prairie Roa•dbuilders should proceed with the project .
Carried .
Minutes and resolution from P & Z committee on Final Plat of Zenisek ' s
lst Addition read to council . Resolution 7584 in regard to this final
plat . Resolution adopted on motion of J . Zamastil 2nd B . Otto . carried
Correspondence read from Iowa Dept . Water , Air & Waste Management
in regard to a recent inspection of the lagoon and other matters .
Letters referred to Hall Engineering . Correspondence from, Linn County
Extension service in regard to spray damage. Most everything is
returning to normal , nothing more can be done until next spring . No
action to be taken until then .
Motion by B . Otto 2nd T . Berryhill , A Smith Corona Electronic Type-
writter to be purchased for City Clerks office . Carried
Discussion held on new regulations in regard to bank deposits over
$100 , 000 . 00 . On motion. of N . Josifek , 2nd T . Berryhill , City
Clerk authorized to sign letter to State Treasurer stating that
City is attempting to comply with the regulations set forth in
SF 2220 . Carried
On motion of B . Otto 2nd J . Zamastil the Baseball team is to give
a list of materials needed to repair the dug out that was damaged
during the wind storms, to R . Dusil so material can purchased . Carried .
Letters read from Randy Larson and Joe Ostrenga in regard to Hey Day
Discussion held with Council and Citizens attending the meeting in
this regard . Mayor Feight ask Joe Ostrenga if he would help
organize a meeting with Fairfax Residence , American Legion and the
City Council . A open forum meeting will be held at City Hall on
July 31 , 1984 at 7P .M . Notice to be put in Water bills and a flier
will be sent out to all residence later this month .
Motion to pay bills presented made by T . Berryhill 2nd B . Balog . Carried
Mayor Feight called for special council meeting on July 16 , 1984 at
7 P .M. for a work session on several items .
