DESC RIPTION- The work to be done under these specifications consists pouring and finishing the integral, concrete curb and pave- ment slab of the type and dimensions as shown on the plans. The curb and slab shall be constructed to the grade and alignment as shown by the Engineers stakes. The radii at street intersections shall be as shown on the plans and as directed by the Engineer. The pavement slab shall extend across private drivewa7s but the curb shall be dropped as approved by the Engineer. I® SUBGRADE PREPARATION: Subgrade preparation shall conform to the Iowa Department of Transport- ation 1977 Standard Specifications Section 2109.03. III. FORMS: All straight sections shall be formed with steel or wood forms for the full depth of adjacent concrete. Flexible or curved forms of proper radii shall be used for curves having radii of less than 100 feet. All forms shall be set to the line and grade as determined by the Engineer and shall be braced to insure that they will remain during operation to the line and grade as set. The top and side surfaces of all forms shall not vary from a straight line more than 3/8 inch in 10 feet. The design and condition of all forms shall be subject to the approval of the Engineer. All forms shall be cleaned, oiled and checked for line and grade before placing concrete. The face of the curb shall be formed with fixed or movable forms. Curb mules may be used when demonstrated that the device will produce results -satisfactory to the Engineer. Side forms shall be left in place not less than fifteen (15) hours after the concrete is placed, unless otherwise directed by the Engineer. IV. CONCRETE: All concrete used for this project shall conform to the Iowa Department of Transportation 1977 Standard Specifications Section 2301 .04 Class "All Concrete Mix No. A-3 or A-4., Materials used in the concrete shall conform to Sections 4101 , 4110, 4115, and 4102. Concrete curing shall conform to Sections 4104, 4105 or 4106. Air-entraining admixtures shall be used to conform to Section 4103. - Concrete mixing shall be in conformance with Sections 2301 .06 and 2301 . 7. `f E[ I I t V. Placing and Finishim Concrete s Concrete shall be placed uniformil.y on the subgrade and shall be tamped or vibrated for consolidation. The conrete shall be screened off flush with the forms and floated with a wood float to a uniform surface true to line and grade.
