Swearing in of Mayer and Council , ll , Adjournment 09y Cr---Xd OffidA =4"1:9 .0"_9_1rW_C_? i I Regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council held December 5 , 1985-7 PM 5 Mayor Feight presiding, Council present : Balog, Bullock, Josifek & Zamastil Berryhill absent , Minutes of previous meeting approved on motion of Josifek, 2nd Zamastil Carried, Financial & Budget report reviewed and placed on file , Rece,pts to be accounted for : General Account 29, 333 . 24, RUT 2 , 106. 58 DebitiServ. 1 , 695 , 47 , Revenue Sharing 108 . 45, eater Dept 1 , 434 . 28, Sewer Dept 3, 369 . 10 Garbage fees 523 . 00 Update on the following, items was given to Council by the City Clerk. on the following items : Sewer Project , Local Option Sales tax, Legislative meeting to be held in Des Moines on December 13 , Finn County Municipalities meeting with State Representatives and State Senators in regard to Local Option tax to be held December 10 at Springville , correspondence sent to American Legion Commander in regard to Hey Dey Plans for the January adgenda . Liquor permit and Sunday liquor permit for the American Legion was approved on motion of Zamastil , 2nd Balog. Carried all voting Aye John Feld, Iowa Electric Light , advised council of the Franchise Election that is to be held December 10th and ask that they encourage all residence of Fairfax to vote . City Clerk read the official returns of the CityElection held November 5, 1985. Charles Peters elected Mayor . Vote 81 for Peters , 17 other write- in votes . Council elected Bryan Balog -90 votes, David .Rullock. 91 votes , Vernon Cerveny 91 votes , John Zamastil 25 Trite--in votes , Harold Shakespeare 14 write-in votes . 'There were 127 other write-in votes for council . Jahn Zamastil notified the Council he does not wish to accept the office of Council . The Council will need to appoint someone to fill this position. This will take place at the January 2nd Council meeting. Citizens have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by a special election. This petition must be filed within . l4 days of the publ ioation' af. �iotiee, to appoint On motion of Josifek 2nd Bullock all bills presented were approved for payment . Carried.. All voting aye .
