Special meeting of the Fairfax CityCouncil was held 1/ 13/87 . Mayor Peters
Peter's presiding . Council members present : Balog, Bach, Cerveny & Shakespeare f
Absent Bullock .
Purpose of meeting : Budget workshop and discussion of sewer backup claim.
Shakespeare made motion that prices be obtained for cleaning of 2300
feet: of sewer main. 2nd flalog. Carried.
Rest of meeting spend in working on the 87/88 budget. Meeting adjourned
at 10,145 PM

Minutes of previous meeting approved on motion of Cerveny, 2nd Shakeajpeare
Adgenda approved as posted, financial & budget report approved and placed
on file . Receipts to be accounla� for : General Funds $3 , 726 . 31 , RUT fund :

Sewer Dept : $3 , 533 . 98, Garbage cull : 1 , 567 . 00
Mr. Dick freeman, Linn County Extension Director, discussed with Council
a tree planting program, and types of trees to plant for growth and stress
tolerance . City Clerk to contact City of Mt Vernon in regard to their
tree planting program
Annexation petition of City for Railroad property near site of new sewer
lagoon approved on motion of Balog, 2nd Cerveny. Letter to be sent to
P & Z committee for their input. . Public hearing on this annexation will be
held at the March 5, 1987 Council meeting .
Prairie Roadbuilders presenV° a contract to the city for street work to �
be done this summer. On motion of Cerveny 2nd Balog, Prairie Roadbuilders
Contract approved. Amount of work and location will be determined later. Carried s
Building permit for Ron Hilton for a 52x8Oxl6 building at 94 Williams Blvd.

Review & discussion of relief sewer line, lagoon project and cleaning of
mains . It appears that the relief line that was plan will be tabled for
this time, lagoon expansion project will be ready in about 2 months for
bidisto be let , depending on State of Iowa approval. . Maintence dept .
report. that 2 , 300 feet of sewer main has - been cleaned, a new type of float
system will be installed in Lift Station #3 and that inprovements must be
done to three manholes .
City Clerk to contact Linn County Health in regard to inspection of all
underground gas storage tanks in the city limits .
City Clerk to contact Linn. County Road Dept in regard to the use of their
ditch digging machine or names of companies that do that work so that a
program of ditch cleaning & deeping can be started .
Bills approved for payment on mo-f-Ton of Cerveny 2nd Bach, Carried
On motion of Shakespeare, 2nd Cerveny, All monies not already committed to
the Library in the Revenue Sharing account be transfered to the Water Dept .
!, to pay for the extensive work that was done on the Water Tower . Carried .
A budget amendment will have to be done to transfer these funds .
Motion of Shakespeare 2nd Cerveny the Public Hearing on the 1987 /88
budget will be held at 7PM on March 5, 1986 . All voting aye . Carried
