Council present : 'Balog, Cerveny & Shakespeare Absent : Bullock & Bach. Minutes of previous meeting approved on motion of Cerveny 2n Shakespeare . Budget & Financial report accepted and placed on file . Receipt to be accounted for are as follows : General Accounts : $1, 394. 76, RUT Acct . $2 , 807 . 99 , Water Dept : 1 , 957 . 08 , Sewer Dept 3, 337 . 37 , Garbage fees $1 , 562 . 00 . Adgenda approved as posted on motion of Cerveny 2nd Shakespeare . Pizza-2-U ask permission to park on Vanderbilt street temporarily on Thursday and Sunday evenings until a permanent off-street parking can be arranged. On motion of Balog,. 2nd Cerveny Pizza-2-U given permission to park on Vanderbilt Street per Ordinance 8-1. 0108 on Thursday and Sunday evenings and they are to report back to council at the May 7th Council meeting . Carried . Mayor Peters opened public hearing at 7 : 15 PM on a budget amendment to the F/Y 86/87 . No objectors present and no objections received by mail . Public Hearing closed at 7 : 17 PM. Resolution 4287 "BUDGET AMENDMENT" introduced and approved on motion of Shakespeare, 2nd Cerveny. Carried Roll call vote . Aye : Balog, Cerveny Shakespeare, Nays : none , Absent Bullock & Bach. Mayor Peters opened public hearing at 7 : 20 PM on the purchase , contract signing and bids on purchase of a tanker unit for Fire Department . Two bids were received :... Smeal Mfg $33, 729 . 00 (300 day delivery) Ed. F'eldt Co (Toyne Mfg) $31 , 556 . 40 (145 day delivery) . Mayor Peters closed public '.bearing at 7 : 45PM. Motion by Cerveny 2nd Balog to approve bid of the Ed Feld Co for tanker . Carried Roll call vote Ayres : Balog, Cerveny, Shakespeare, Nay: None . Absent Bullock & Bach., Resolution 4287A "Authority for Mayor to sign contract for fire truck purchase" introduced by Cerveny 2nd Balog. Approved all voting aye - Beer permit for the Fairfax Baseball team approved on motion of Cerveny 2nd Shakespeare . All voting aye . Building permit extension were granted to Roger Lowe and H. Eichhorn on motion of Balog 2nd Cerveny. Carried. Resolution 428713 "Purchase of 3 . 36 acres from Linn County. " was introduce and approved on motion of Balog, 2nd Cerveny. Carried. Roll call vote : Aye Balog, Cerveny, Shakespeare Nays :None Absent Bullock & BAch. Clean Up Day discussion held, with May 16th being date/STor the project . May 23rd was designated as "Rain date" . Items to be picked up should be at the curb by 9 : OOAM on May 16th . Mayor Peters to contact residence on the SW side of Highway 151 in regard to possible extension of city sewer to them. Discussion held on the progress of the sewer project . On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Balog, Councilmember Shakespeare to negotiate the easement details for property to be used in the Sewer Improvement project . Carried. Report from P & Z committee given to council . Council and Planning & Zoning committee to meet on 4/ 7 /87 in regard to the updating of the comprehensive plan. On motion of Balog, 2nd Shakespeare , Mayor to sign agreement with the Iowa Codification Service . Carried. A short Hey Dey discussion held with Council . Dates set for the American Legion sponsored Hey Dey will be June 19 and 20 . On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Balog, Chris Burger to be hired to do the mowing of city property. Carried. On motion of Cerveny 2nd. Balog, City Clerk given permission to attend Iowa Municipal Finance Officers meeting in Des Moines on 4/22 , 23 &2.4. Tom Meyers requested that Council notify owner of empty lots on Stallman °' oad and Cemetery Road W ` about the undergrowth and weeds on his property and ask that they be cleaned up . _ . .. ._.. _ _ v � . . . Paul Evans from East Central Iowa Council of Government spoke to the group on the Cities Comprehensive Plan. No official business was conducted. Purpose of meeting : Memorandum of Agreement and building permit . On motion of Bullock, 2nd Bach Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Fairfax, Kenneth 0. & Mary Katherine. Selzer and Iowa Fund, Inc approved and Mayor given authority to sign same, with two minor changes being made . Carried. Ayes : Bach, Bullock, Balog, Cerveny & Shakespeare, Brays : None . Absent : None Building permit for garage present to council by Tim Fairlie . Permit did not meet side yard regulations . Permit to be referred to the Board of Review for their consideration.
