Mayor Peters presiding. Council present Balog, Bach & Cerveny
Minutes of previous meeting approved on motion of Cerveny 2nd Balog.
]Financial & budget report approved and placed on file. Receipts to
be accounted for : General 7 , 048 . 40, RUT 2, 282 . 29 , Library T&A 100 . 00 ,
'eater Dept $2, 244. 33,, Sewer Dept 3 , 933 . 10, Garbage fees 1 , 845. 50 .
Bids opened on the sale of the Fire truck. On motion of Cerveny,
2nd Balog, bid of Jerry Zenisek in the amount of $1 , 705 , 00 be accepted .
Carried All voting yes .
Contract quotes for spraying of weeds on City property were opened
0n motion of Cerveny 2nd Bach bid of Amana Feedmill in the amount.
$317 . 65 to be accepted . Voting yes Bach & Cerveny, Voting No Balog
Councilmen Shakespeare arrived at 7 : 20 PM.
On motion of Bach, 2nd Balog, Donnie Stockton approved as a probationery
member of the Fairfax Fire Department . Carried. All voting yes
On motion of Cerveny 2nd Bach Resoltuion #9387 "PROVIDING FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF CONSTRUCTION WARRANTS" . All voting aye .
City Clerk reminded Council that nomination papers are available,,
for City Election to be held on November 3, 1987 , at the Clerks
office . Last date to return them will be September 24, 1987 .
On motion of Cerveny 2nd Balog, Building permit issued to D. Larson
Carried. All voting aye .
On motion of Balog, 2nd Cerveny, Ctty Clerks office to be closed
on school and regular election days and to be open on the Thursday
of that week instead. Carried all voting yes .
On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Balog, City Clerk given permission to
attend the League of Iowa Municipalities meeting in Davenport and
that she be appoint the City of Fairfax voting delegate . All voting yes .
On motion of Shakespeare, 2nd Cerveny , Schmitt Construction given
permission to extend water main under railroad tracks . All voting yes
ORDINANCE 142"ZONING ORDINANCE CHANGE" On motion of Bach 2nd Shakespeare
moved the approval of the ordinance on its first reading and that
requirement requiring three readings be suspended. Ordinance 142
then read by title only. Cerveny moved the adoption of the Ordinance
as read. All voting yes . Mayor Peters declared Ordinance 142
adopted and in effect as per publication requirements .
ORDINANCE 14-3 "REQUIRING THE REPORTING OF GIFTS TO CITY OFFICIALS,
EMPOYLEES AND FAMILY MEMBERS" On motion of BAch, 2nd Shakespeare
moved the approval of the ordinance on its first reading and that
the requirement requiring three readings be suspend . Carried all
voting yes . Ordinance 143 then read by title only. Cerveny moved.

Discussion held on the recent speed study done on Highway 151,
