BE IT RESOLVED by the Fairfax City Council
i
that $55 , 000 . 00 from the Capital Improvement
Reserve Fund within the General Fund be
Transfered to the Sewer Department .
Be it further resolved that this transfer
is necessary to pay for certain Sewer
Main Repairs ,
and the Sewer Department had budgeted for
these repairs in the F/Y 88/89 Budget,
but the Sewer Departments reserves have
been depleted by overrun cost of Sewer
Department Project during the F/Y 87/88 .
THERFORE BE IT RE'SOLVED': That the City
Clerk be directed to transfer these funds .

R, EqOLUTION NO. 9188
WHERLAS , the City of Fairfax, Iowa, desires to employ
Whitters Turf Farm,, Inc. to dig , shape and maintain a storm water
runoff ditch (consisting of approximately seven thousand cubic
yards) from the intersection of Fairfax Road and Linn Street for a
,distance of approximately two thousand two hundred feet to the
trilbutary of Prairie Creek in Fairfax, Iowa; and
WHEREAS , Whit-ters ','�urf Farw,p Inc. has agreed to dig, shape!
and -maintain the storm--twater runoff ditch as described above at a
cost of One Dollar, ($11 per cubic yard -far a total cost of Seven
Thr-usand Dollars ($7 ,000) ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
Fairfax, Iowa , as follows:
That the City of Fairfax, Iowa , upon motion duly considered,
nerebv authorizes the Mayor of the City of Fairfax, lo'-,ia, to
execute the attached Agreement an behalf- of the City of Fairfax,

Regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held 9/1/88 , at = 7 :>001PM
with Mayor Peters presiding. Council present : Nading, Svoboda & Quillin
present . Cerveny & Bullock absent .
Approval of agenda as posted, minutes of previous meeting, budget
financial reports approved on motion of Svoboda, 2nd Quillin. Carried .
Receipts to be accounted for : General $6 , 336 . 48, RUT $2,592 . 03 , Debit
Service $68 . 90, Garbage fees$1975 . 00, Wt Dept $2, 609 . 95, Sewer Dept
$3, 555 . 62 .
Reading of Ordinance 146 & 147 postponed until the October meeting
On motion of Nading 2nd Svoboda, Farmers Home. Administration Survey
to show that the Housing needs in Fairfax would be in the Low and
moderate family units X16 units needed for family with income under
$2.7,1101, 00 and 8 to 12 one bedroom units for household age 62 or
older . Carried
Reolution #9188 "Storm water runoff ditch and authority for Mayor
Peters to sign agreement with Whitters Turf to dig, shape & maintain
ditch" presented on motion of Nading 2nd Svoboda. Carried .
On motion of Nading 2nd Quillin, City to pay crop damage settlement
to Hertz Farm Management & Zenisek Bros in the total amount of $436.. 64
for corn on land to be used as storm water runoff ditch. Carried .
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Quillin, Gary Stockton to be appointed by
Mayor Peters as City' s representative on the #911 board. Carried.
Representatives from the Fire Department present a proposal to purchase
115 pagers for the Fire Department . On motion of Nading 2nd Svoboda
Fire Dept to purchase 15 Motorla Pagers at cost of $5 , 685 . 00 less the
Mail-in Warranty of $525. 00 for a total cost of $5 , 160 . 00 . Carried.
The $5 , 160 . 00 -to be taken out of -a portion ofi�the amount set aside
for the Fire Dept Reserve Fund in the 1988/89 budget .

Land Appraisal for Library should be finished by 9 / 7/88 and copies
to Council at that time .
Di'scussio'n held in regard to the enforcement of Junk Car & Machinery
Ordinance . Council to check if all citizens that they received complaints
on have complied with the regulations .

made at Alice Barnett residence . Carried.
On motion of Nading 2nd Svoboda, City Clerk ;given permission to destroy
certain records , per State of Iowa requirements . Carried .
On Motion of Svobda, 2nd Quillin, Councilman Nading & City Clerk Soukup
given permission to attend the League of Iowa Municipalities Convention
on September 14, 15 & 16. Mayor to appoint Councilman Nading as the
City' s voting delegate, . Carried .
On motion of Svoboda 2nd Quillin, bills presented approved for payment
