Regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held on 1/12/89 , at 7PM . f
Mayor Peters presiding. Council present : :Bullock, Cerveny, Nading,
Quillen, & Svoboda .
Agenda and minutes of previous meeting approved on motion of Svoboda,
2nd Cerveny. Carried.
Financial & budget reports received and placed on file . Receipts
to be account for as follows : General account .$24, 443 . 00, RUT fund
$2, 001 . 69 , T & A Acct . 160 . 00 , Debt Serv. 57 . 42, Water dept : $1, 974. 91
Sewer Dept : $3 , 304 . 90, Garbage $1, 493 . 00 .
Public hearing on annexation opened by Mayor Peters . No objectors
appeared nor any objections received by mail. Mayor Peters closed
public hearing at 7 : 15pm.
Resolution 11289 presented on motion of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny. Carried
All voting Aye on roll call vote . (Olson annexation)
Linn County Sheriff Blome, Captain Gear & Lt: Weatherbee attended
Council meeting for a discussion of the services provided to the
City by the Linn County Sheriffs Dept .
Geoffrey Fick from Elliott Equipment at Davenport present the Council
with a price quote on a used self .propelled street sweeper . Council
to take quote under consideration.
Council member Cerveny and Librarian Linda Balog showed the City
Council preliminary plans for the new Library. There will be a
public meeting in this regard on January 30th in the basement
of St Patricks Church.
On motion of Nading, 2nd Svoboda, City Code 1-3 ..0304 be amended
to read "Regular Council meetings will be held the 2nd Tuesday
of each month (with the exception of the March, ---1989:, _.meeting
will be on the 1st 'Tuesday because of budget deadlines )
instead of the present lst Thursday of each month . Carried. Roll
call vote All voting Aye .
Resolution 11289A&B ""Place certain Past Due untility bills on
property as tax leins"' presented by Nading 2nd Svoboda . Carried
Roll call vote : All voting aye .
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Bullock, John Thomas approved as a
probationary member of the Fairfax Fire Dept . Carried .
Resignation. from P & Z committee received from Leroy Patterson.
On motion of Nading, 2nd Cerveny: Vince Gaffney named to fill vacancy
on P & Z Committee . Carried.
2nd Reading of Ordinance 152 and 153 held . (Mayor Salary change and
Councilmember salary change, effective 1990) Voting Aye : Bullock,
Cerveny, Nading, Quilli.n. Voting Nay: Svoboda .
Bills presented for payment approved on motion of Svoboda, 2nd
Cerveny. Carried .
Special Council meeting to be held January 28, 1989 at LOAM, to
work on the budget .
Motion to adjourn made by Nading at 9 : 15PM, 2nd Svoboda. Carried.
