Special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held at 10 AM
on January 28, 1989. Mayor Peters presiding. Council present
Bullock, Cerveny, Nading, Quillin & Svoboda.
Icon Young, President of the Fairfax Library Board , gave a
presentation to the Council on the proposed fund drive that will
be kicked-off at the "Town Meeting" to be held Monday, 1/30/89
at 7 : OOPM in the basement of St Patricks Church. They will be
establishing Library Escrow Building Fund Account at the Fairfax.
State . Savings Bank for the purpose of receiving donations . They
will be using the City of Fairfax Federal Identification number
on this account .
A brief discussion was held on the 1989/90 budget . On motion of
Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny the budget hearing for the approval of the
(budget to be held at the February 14th Council meeting . Carried
All voting aye .
(Discussion held in regard to the re-codification of the City
Ordinances that must be done per state law every five (5) years .
On motion of Cerveny 2nd Svoboda, Iowa Codification, Inc of
Clear Lake, Iowa to be hired to do the re-codification. Carried
All voting aye .
Discussion held on the purchase of new playground equipment for
the City park. On motion of Cerveny 2nd -Nading a Modular deck
System with suspension bridge , ladders & slide to be purchased
from Recreation Concepts, of Grinnell, Iowa .. To be installed
in the spring and paid for out of 1989/90 budget . All voting aye .
On motion of Nading 2nd Svoboda, Tom Martin to be appointed to
P & Z Committee to fill unexpired term due to a resignation.
Carried. All voting Aye .
City Clerk instructed to send quote forms to 7 different
companies that do seal coating . of streets . These quotes will
be opened at the regular meeting to be held 2/14 /89 .
City Clerk instructed to send proposal forms to four different
insurance carriers for quotes on the Cities insurance coverage .
"These proposals will be opened at the regular council meeting
to be hold on March 14, 1989 .
Motion to adjourn was made at 11 : 15 AM on motion of Nading,
2nd Svoboda . Carried, All voting Aye ,
