April 12, 1989 . Mayor Charles Peters presided . Councilmembers
present : Cerveny, Nading, Svoboda, Quillin. Absent : Bullock.
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny, Minutes of previous meeting,
and adgenda approved as presented. Budget & Financial reports
received and placed on file . Receipts to be accounted for :
General Fund : $8, 102 . 30 , RUT fund 2 , 796 . 88, Debit Sery fund : 91 . 77 ,
Water Dept : 1 , 304 . 01 , Sewer Dept 4, 919 . 93 .
Mayor Peters opened Public Hearing on the Budget Amendment at 7 : 03
Hearing no objections and none received by mail , Mayor Peters closed
hearing at 7 : 08 PM
Resolution 41189 "AMENDING THE CURRENT BUDGET FOR F/Y 88/89"
presented on motion of Nading, 2nd Svoboda . Roll Call vote : Ayes :
Cerveny, Nading, Svoboda, Quillin, Nay : None . Absent : Bullock.
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny' Beer & Wine Permit for the Fairfax.
Handimart Approved . All voting Aye
Two bids were received to do the grass mowing aa zk-a-s posted. On motion
of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny, bid awarded to Bill Beaty(dba Ellie ' s Lawn
Care) at a cost of $90 . 00 per mowing. Voting Aye : Cerveny, Svoboda,
Quillin, Voting Nay : Nading .
Discussion held in regard to hiring a company to sweep the streets .
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny, Evans Hughes (dba Hughes Landscape
Management) to bring his equipment out for a demonstration on the
sealcoat streets and paved streets . On this trial basis no more
than $75. 00 is to be spent. Carried All Voting Aye . Councilmenber
Nading to be notified when the demonstration will be held so that
he may observe same .
Discussion held in regard: to the annexation of part of the "Wilson
Property" . Matter to be referred to the P & 2' for their meeting on
April 18.
On motion of Quillin, a dumrrpster is to be rented for the months
May through October for the City Park, 2nd Svoboda . Carried .
City has been notified that Lyle Vance is filling an appeal to the
Condenation proceedings in regard to property on Vanderbilt Street.
Report from Library Board in regard to the fund raising for the
new Library. They are still short $35, 000 . 00 towards the matching
money for the state grant, and the Hall Foundation funds are not
j available for this year.
Mayor Peters and Councilm:emnbers declared the week of May 1 through
May 6 as FAIRFAX PRIDE WEEK, and asking all residence to clean up
and paint up their properties and remand everyone to have their items
for trash pickup on the curbs by SAM on May 6th,
Discussion held in regard to a 320 feet length of sewer main that was
not inclued in last years repair project . Quotes are to be taken to
finish up this project, per motion by Nading, 2nd Quillin. Carried .
Report given to Council on progress in getting dirt hauled to
certain properties where sewer main repairs were made last fall .
On motion of Svoboda, 2nd Cerveny, bills present for payment approved.
Carried. All voting Aye .
No further business , motion to adjourn made at 830PM by Nading,
