Peters presiding. Council present : Bullock, Cerveny, Nading & Quillin.
Absent Svoboda .
Agenda, minutes of previous meeting, budget & financial reports approved
l on motion of Quillin, 2nd Bullock. Carried.
Receipts to be account for : $39 , 716 . 71, RUT fund 2 , 817 . 00, Debit Sery

Resolution 61389 "Notice of Hearing on adoption of Proposed Code of
Ordinance" approved on motion of Nading 2nd Cerveny. Carried
Cigarette permits for Bobs Meats , Handimart & Star Hotel approved
on motion of Bullock, 2nd Cerveny. Carried
Resolution 61389A "Authorization for two street lights on Front Street
approved on motion of Fading, 2nd Quillin. Carried ,
Sheriff Dennis Blome and Lt Knott attended meeting to discuss complaints
received by Council in regard to Stop sign violations , unlicensed drivers
II of mopeds=and off the road vehicles on city streets ,vandalism at sewer
Lagoon.
Two quotes received for the sewer main repair project . On motion of
Nading, 2nd Bullock, Borst Construction of Marion to be awarded the
job on a bid of $9 , 111 . 00. Carried . All voting Aye .
One quote from Schmidt Construction, Winfield, Iowa received for
repairs of the bridge on Cemetery Road W. On" motion of Quillin, 2nd
Cerveny, Schmidt construction quote of $7 , 000 . 00 be approved.
Carried. All voting aye .
On motion of Nading, 2nd Cerveny, City Clerk to contact City Engineer
and getspee'.:s and some tentative prices to repair Prairie Ave between
Nickolet and Vanderbilt street and to approve the street repairs
as outlined from Prairie Roadbuilders . Carried. All voting Aye.
Fire Chief buss Carver discussed several Fire Department matters
with the CityCouncil . No action was taken.
The Librarian Linda Balog informed the City Council that the Library
did not receive the grant from the State Library Board that they had
applied for, but that they will continue to check other avenues of
resources to finance the Library.,Nading made motion to continue with
the condemation proceeds, 2nd Bullock. Carried. All voting Aye .
On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Quillin, City to become a member of the
new proposed Northeast Iowa League of Municipalities . Carried .
Further discussion of possible summer reduction of sewer rates will
be tabled until the July meeting .
On motion of Cerveny 2nd Quillin, City Clerk ,given permission to attend
Continuing Education Course at Iowa State University July 19th to 21st .
Carried . All voting Aye .
MAyor Peters and Councilmember Quillin to investigate several complaint
items and report back at next Council meeting.
On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Quillin, Backstop on practice diamond at the
park to be replaced and/or repaired as necessary. Carried . All voting aye .
City clerk instructed to get price quotes on repair and refinishing of
Tennis Courts and the prices of nets & windscreens for courts .
Resolution 61389B "Agreement & Easement for Water & Sewer lines"
gave Mayor & City Clerk permission to sign Agreement & easements in
the name of the City of Fairfax, on-motion of Cerveny, 2nd• Nading .,
Carried . All voting Aye .
On motion of Nading, 2nd Cerveny, bills presented for payment approved
and CityClerk given permission to pay such bills as per budget that
are received before the end of the Fiscal Year on June 30 . Carried.
All voting Aye
Motion to adjourn made at 9 : lOPM by Nading, 2nd Cerveny. Carried.

RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF
HEARING ON THE ADOPTION OF THE PROPOSED "CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA, 1989. "
WHEREAS, the council has caused to be prepared and filed with
the city clerk copies of the proposed "CODE OF ORDINANCES OF'
THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA, 1989, " and,
WHEREAS, an official copy of the proposed "CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA, 1989" is now on file for public
inspection in the office of the city clerk of Fairfax, Iowa,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing thereon
will be held in the council chambers on the day of
1989, at ` h' ,) o'clock p.m. , at which
time and p jace the council will consider arguments for or
against the adoption of the proposed "CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA, 1989" or amendments thereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the clerk be authorized and
directed to cause: to be published notice of such hearing one
time not less than four ( 4 ) days nor more than twenty ( 20 )
days prior to the date herein established for hearing as by
law provided.
