Mayor Nading presiding . Council present : Cerveny, Bullock, & Hasting . Absent : Svoboda & Quillen. Agenda, Minutes of previous meeting, budget & financial reports approved on motion of Cerveny. 2nd Hastings . Carried . Mayor Nading opened public hearing on budget meeting . No written or verbal objections received. Mayor closed public Hearing . Resolution # 1990 "AMENDING OF 1989 F/Y 89" BUDGET" presented on motion of Cerveny 2nd Bullock. Passed on roll call vote . All voting aye . Mr John Feld and Joe ` Zach4r, representatives from Iowa Electric , discussed with council the rate increase that is pending. Correspondence from Davis Jones Lamb Insurance Agency(Employers Mutual) and Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities in regard to the City of Fairfax .receiving a dividend of $2_,.461, 17 from their companies . Mr. Dave Neuhaus , discussed with council the amount of the donation from .the Krall Trust that has been given to the Libary Building Fund, Discussion of future fund raising events as the Library Building Fund is- still 50, 000 short of their goal . On motion of Cerveny 2nd Hasti.ng, Council to give Maybr Nading authority to negotiate with Tyr. Vance on final purchase price of lots for library. Carried . All voting Aye . Mayor Nading appointed Russ Carver Fire Chief' and Vernon Cerveny as Mayor Pro-Tem. On motion of Cerveny, 2nd Hastings, Doug Nemec approved as a probationery member of the Fire Department . - Carried On motion of Hastings 2nd Bullock, Mike Sankot approved as a probat .onery member of the Fire Department pending final approval of Fire Department . Carried All voting aye ., Discussion of replacing underground gas tank with an above ground tank. On motion of Bullock, 2nd Cerveny, City Clerk to get prices and check proper location of same per state law. Carried. The following appointments made on motion of Cerveny, 2nd Hastings . Two year appointments : Virginia Soukup , City Clerk, Betty Panek, Deputy Clerk, Scott McLeod, City Attorney. Planning & Zoning : 5 year term Jim "Harry" Stallman ( shill two short) , Library Board : 6 year tern Cindy Divisek, Shirley Lowe & Bernice Kleppe, Board of Review: 5 year Term: Merle Hastings . Carried . All voting aye . Discussion held with Sheriff Blome in regard to service to the City of Fairfax. Will review the service in March again and further discussion will be held with Sheriff in regard to City contract . Approval of bills as presented on motion of Cerveny 2nd Bullock, Carried . All voting aye . Discussion of projected budget figures . A Special council meeting will be held on January 22, 1990 at 5 : 30 PM to finalize budget and set date for public hearing.
