Special Fairfax City Council meeting was held 1 /22/90 . Mayor Nading
presiding . Council present, Cerveny, Bullock, & Quillen. Absent :
Hastings & Svoboda.
Purpose of meeting : Set date _for Public Hearing on Budget, budget
discussion and Library matters .
Council reviewed final budget figures . Don Young, representing the
Little League Baseball teams requested permission to obtain prices
on a new pitching machine. This item to be put on the February
regular Council meeting . Council will also review Sheriff contract

at the February meeting.
j On motion of Quillen, 2nd Bullock, Public Hearing on the Budget
for 1990/1991 to be held at 7 : 00 PM on Febrrary 13, 1990 . Carried.
Discussion held on further funding of cost of ]Library building
project.
Councilmember Cerveny introduced Resolution 12290 "Authorizing
the use of City funds in support of the new Fairfax Library"
2nd Bullock. Roll call vote : Yea, Bullock, Cerveny & Quillen.
Fays : none Absent : Hastings & Svoboda
Motion to adjourn made at 6 : 30PM by Bullock, 2nd Cerveny. Carried

RESOLUTION 12290
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE USE OF CITY FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF
THE NEW FAIRFAX PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS the City Council for the City of Fairfax, Iowa
supports and endorses the construction of a new Public
Library in our community :
and,
WHEREAS the use of City funds may be required to help meet
the costs associated with this construction and the requirements
of funding assistance programs ;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Fairfax, Iowa authorizes the use of City funds to
an amount not to exceed $50 , 000 . 00 for the purpose of constructing
and furnishing the new Library, under the following conditions :
a . The City has received funding assistance under the
Library Services and Construction Acts (L'SCA) Title II
funding program and:
b . The use of City Funds will occur only after all other
available funds have been expended .
