OPEN AND CONSIDER BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF THE FAIRFAX PUBLIC LIBRARY.
COUNCIL APPROVAL T'O MAYOR TO SIGN CONTRACTS
AFTER LIBRARY BOARD AND NOVAK DESIGN HAVE
CHECK THE BIDS FOR ACCURACY.

Special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held 9/17/90 , Mayor
Ndding presiding. Council present : Cervey, Bullock & Quillin. Absent
Hastings .
Purpose of meeting : To open bids for construction of the Fairfax
Public Library.
Five bids were received, opened and placed on file . Gene Larson
Construction Base Bid $406, 888 , Staub Const Base Bid $491 , 583 ,
Un eitig Const . Base bid $429 , 000, Loomis Brothers Base Bid $452, 800,
and Garling Construction Base Bid $394, 000 .
On motion of Cerveny 2nd Quillin Resolution #91790 present for
approval and Council recessed until 5 : 30PM on 9/20/90 in order to
receive the Library Board' s recommendations . Carried. All voting
aye .

Hastings .
Purpose of meeting : Award bid for construction of the Fairfax Public
Library.
Discussion held on the alternates to the base bid of the contractors .
Dfie .to the fact that the grant papers have not been received from
the State Library Board no action could be taken on the awarding of
a contract .
On motion of Cerveny, Council to recess meeting until 5 : 30 PM
on September 28, 1990 . 2nd Hastings . Carried.

The Fairfax City Council at their regular
meeting to be held. on October 9, 1990 at °
7 : OOPM will appoint a councilmember to fill
a position on the Fairfax City Council
that is open due to a resignation.
Citizens of Fairfax have the right within
14 days of publication of this notice to
file a petition calling for a special
election to fill this vacancy.
Further information in this regard may be
obtained from the City Clerks office

RESOLUTION d
TO AWARD CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC LIBRARY IN THE CITY
OF FAIRFAX, IOWA.
Whereas , the Fairfax City Council having this date opened,
announced and filed all bids received for construction of a
Public Library in the City of Fairfax, Iowa-, pursuant to the
Notice to Bidders , published in the Cedar Rapids Gazette newspaper
on August 25 , 1990 .
Whereas , Fairfax City Council has reviewed and considered
all bids received and has determined that additional time will
be required to determine the best bid as proved as in Section
384 . 99 of' Code of Iowa.
Now, Therefore , Be It Resolved that the Fairfax City
Council shall recess until 5:30 _ � �� ( and at that time
contracts will be awarded and signed.
This resolution shall be in effect after its final passage
and approval as provided by law. j
Pass by the Fairfax. City Council and approved this /7 day
of 1990 .
