Regular Meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held 4/14/92 at 7 : 00 p . m .
Mayor Nading presiding . Council present : Bullock, Cerveny, Sheely, Peters .
Absent : Quillin .
Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Sheely to approve agenda, Minutes of Previous
Meeting, Budget & Financial Reports . M. C .
Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Peters Lud given permission to take Water
Certification on April 15th . M. C . Lud than gave areport on the items
that have been completed by him and Ron .
Greg Steelsmith, Barker Sanitation, gave a brief discription on some
recycling ideas for Fairfax . We can go with Curb Side Service or a
drop off Site . Cleanup Day for the City will be May 23rd - Helpers will
meet at City Hall at 8 : 00 a .m. Leaf pickup will start on Tuesday April
21st . and will continue the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month .
MaryAnn Peters gave a report on the recycling Committee , a survey
will be distributed by the Boys Scouts around. Fairfax on April 21st ...
They may be returned to City Hall , Library, Bank or Bob ' s Meats .
Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Sheely to approve the Sheriff ' s contract . M . C .
Motion of Bullock, 2nd Cerveny the Voluntary Annexation of Benton
and Elizabeth Jones Property on West Cemetery Road be approved . M. C .
Donald Young and Greg Fetter , Fairfax Little League, requested new
Jersey for the Older boys , with the old Jerseys being given to the
smaller one . Motion Peters , 2nd Bullock, Little League given permission
to use thiir $500 . 00 budget to purchase shirts and balls for the teams .
They also discussed the possibility of making the outfield fence
8ft . high from the concession stand to the Tennis Court and 6ft . the
rest of the outfield . Bud Burger requested 3 loads of dirt for the
diamond. It was suggested that they go to American Soil for the dirt.
Bullock will look into that possibility .
Mr. Barger than asked for Prairie Roadbuilders to give an estimate
of the Parking lot behind the Legion and A.M. &F'.M . Lodge , and whether
the City would be willing to help with the expense .
Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Sheely the following building permits were
issued : Al Barry, an addition to his house , K . Selzer single family on
Front Street , Bryan Balog shed and Russ Nading, a Shed . M. C .
Kenny Selzer was given permission to rock the West end of Railroad. St .
K. Selzer will go to the Board of Review to get an exception to put
Handicapped parking at the 8-plea.
Russ Carver, Fire Chief, reported on two new fireman. Motion Cerveny ,
2nd Bullock, Tad Andrle and Brian Stallman were appointed to the Fire
Department .M. C . Russ also requested permission to sell the old Fire
Helmets .
:Motion by Bullock, 2nd Sheely the Beer License for the Baseball Team
be approved . M. C .
Resolution 41492A - Payroll Resolution - motion by Cerveny, 2nd
Peters that the resolution be approved . Carried .
Discussion§"the following items : Lee Meyer Board of Review exception
be approved . Motion Cerveny, 2nd Sheely . M. C . Mayor Nading to send a.
letter to Dvorak ' s about the removal of the trailer on their property.
The new Sidewalk ruling was discussed and further study will be clone .
The Library Construction .Account will be audited next week . Motion by
Bullock, 2nd Sheely that the Clerk pay the tree bill from Library
Funds . The clerk should contact the compl.aintant about the barking dogs
and have them file a written complaint .
There was some concern about children playing on the wall at the Library .
Motion Cerveny, 2nd Peters approve bills presented for payment . MC .
No further business , Motion Bullock, 2nd Peters the meeting adjourned
at 9 . 15 P .M.

RESOLUTION 41492 A
A RESOLUTION SETTING THE SALARIES FOR APPOINTED OF"F'ICERS AND EMPLOYEES
FAIRFAX FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF 1992/1993 .
BE IT RESOLVED: BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAIRFAX, IOWA . I

Section 1 . The following positions named shall be paid the salaries
or wages indicated and the City Clerk is authorized to
issue checks, less leagally required or authorized deductions
from the amounts set out below, and mare such contributions
to IPERS AND FICA or other purposes as required by law
or order of the City Council , all subject to audit and/or
review by the City Council .
CITY CLERK $7 .. 25 thru 12/1/92 M, T, W, F . (32 hours office
$7 . 35 1/93 thru 7/93 4 hours (non office)
DEPUTY CLERK/
BILLING CLERK $5 . 00 per hour 10 to 15 hrs . monthly
LIBRARIAN $ 6 . 88 per hour
Ass ° T LIBRARIAN $ 5 . 50 per hour
WATER, SEWER, STREET $8 . 75 40 Hours per week j
PART" TIME WATER, SEWER $7 . 50 6&. Hours per month.
Section 2 . Overtime hours shall be paid for a 1 tunes the hourly
rate for the job performed . Overtime meaning : time over
40 hours per week.
Section 3 . The City shall provide the Clerk and W&S Superintendent
with Protector 200 Blue/Cross/Blue Shield Insurance .
The City shall be responsible for the firs $500 . 00 ($200 .. 00
deductible plus $300 . 00) for each person covered . (Single
policy only. )
Section 4 . $ 315 . 00per year uniform allowance will be provided for the
W&S Superintendent .
Section 5 . The City Clerk and W&S Supt . shall be paid for the following
Holidays : New Years , Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day before Christmas and Christmas .
(Deputy Clerks Christmas Day. )
Section 6 . The City Clerk and W&S Supt . shall be allowed four(4) sick
days per year . The sick days may be accumulated up to thirty
(30) days . They shall be allowed two personal days per
year . Personal days may not be accumulated . After using
five consecutive sick days , at the discretion of the
Mayor, a Doctors verification may be requested .
Section 7 . Vacation schedule : 40 hours after one year, 80 hours after
three years , 120 hours after seven years . Vacations must.
be taken and can not be accumulated ...
