ADJOURNMENT . l Regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held 6/ 9192 , at 7 : 00 P . M. Mayor Nading presiding . Council present : Cerveny, Quillin j Peters and Sheely. Motion of Cerveny, 2nd Sheely to approve the amended Agenda, Minutes of previous meeting, Budget and Financial Reports . Carried . Motion from Cerveny, 2nd Sheely to purchase and install a drinking fountain at the Pavillon in the Park. Also to fix around the base to prevent the mud . There were three candidates for the opening on the City Council, the Mayor is to contact them and talk to each one . Then he will make his recommendation to the City Council . Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Sheely. MC Garbage Contract was discussed . A bid from Steelsmith Sanitation, and Schultz were reviewed . The contract will be for a five year period . There was a discussion on the recycling that will started in Fairfax . The Committee will hold another meeting and the details will be worked out , and the citizens notified when the recycling will begin. Motion by Peters , 2nd Quillin that Steelsmith Sanitation be awarded the contract . 3 ayes , 1 nay. Mayor Nading expressed his concern over the cost over the five year period . Tom Hutchcroft requested permission to move his house from Main St . to Front St , A certificate of Insurance from the movers was presented to the City . The City will be notified when the move will take place . Motion of Quillin, 2nd Peters a building permit was issued to Dvorak ' s to side and convert a House Trailer to a Storage Shed . MC . Motion by Peters , 2nd Cerveny, to approve a building permit to Costigan for a new home . MC . Motion by Cerveny, 2nd Sheely the Clerk is contact Dwight Hughes , about watering the new trees in town during the drought . Carried. Russ Carver, Fire Chief asked permission for the Fire Department to close Linn St . on June 20th for a Water Ball Fight . Motion by Sheely, 2nd Cerveny . The clerk is to notify the residents to this effect . Linda Balog the Librarian gave her report on the Library. the Walford contract , and the contract for cleaning the Library . Cerveny made the motion that the Council recommend to the Board they accept the bid received, but they will make up the difference between what was budgeted and what the bid came in at . 2nd Quillin . Motion by Sheely, 2nd Cerveny the renewal of the cigarette permits for the Star Hotel and the Handi Mart . Carried. Motion Sheely, 2nd Cerveny the clerk is to write a letter to Mr .. and Mrs . Otis stating that they will not have to pay for another meter . Motion Cerveny, 2nd Sheely the Final Plat of Selzer ' s 4th Lakeside addition was approved . Carried . There was a discussion of a park on the North Side of Fairfax and land donated by K. Selzer . A discussion on open burning was brought up . There should be no open burning in Fairfax . Citizens may burn in a barrel , if they want to burn large things they need to get a burning permit from the County . Motion Cerveny, 2nd Peters for City Clerk to attend Continuing Ed . classes in Ames in July. Carried . Motion Peters , 2nd Quillin to contact TE to install a street light. on Fairfax Road . Carried . Discussion the street work to be done by Prairie Roadbuilders in July . Vernon Cerveny will apply again for a grant for trees in Fairfax.
