FAIRFAX CITY COUNCIL MEETING - APRIL 13 - 7 : 00: P. M. CITY HALL

Regular: Meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held April
1:It.h at 7 :00 P .M. Mayor Nading presiding, all council present .
Cerveny, Quillin, Peters , Sheely, Neuhaus..
Motion of Cerveny, 2nd Neuhaus approval of agenda, previous
minutes, budget and financial reports . MC
Maintenance reports: Hydrant flushing was done Monday
Tuesday, Yard waste, pickup will start on May 4th and will continue
on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Yard waste must be
placed in reusable containers .
Representives of Cox Cable were in attendance to explain their
findings on the possibility of taking over the service to Fairfax.
They are very interested in pursuing the matter and will get a
porposal to the Council as soon as possible.
Motion of Quillin, 2nd Sheely the following building permits
were approved - Dan Shakespeare, House -- Larry Valvoda, Patio -
Michael Kosteiac, Deck. MC
Motion of Sheely, 2nd Cerveny the Beer Permit for the Ball
Team was approved The maintenance man will mow the ball diamond
this year . The are looking for girls in 3 , 4, & 5th grades ( ages 8-
11 ) to form a softball team for the Iowa Valley League . If anyone
is interested they should contact Don Young or Greg Fetter , also if
anyone is interested in coaching a team let them know. Don will get
:bids for fertilizing the .ball park.
Motion of Neuhaus, 2nd Sheely, Mary Ann. Peters and Mike
Kostelac were appointeds to the Linn County solid Waste Planning
Committee . MC
Sheriff ' s department was instructed to start issuing tickets
to people who are parking along the streets were parking is
prohibited.
Report from the Library - Motion of Cerveny, 2nd Neuhaus Lid
and Ron will try to fix the things at the Library that are still
undone . There will now be a $10 . 00 fee charged to rural residents
to use the Libraries .
Motion of Cerveny, 2nd Neuhaus for the clerk to attend
continuing Education in Ames in July. MC.
Motion Sheely, 2nd Peters to accept the resignation of Doug
Nemec from the Fire Department and approve the application of
Robert Cruise to the Department. MC.
Discussion on Murphy' s addition, the Council deceided that
there were to many unknowns to go on with the project.
The Clerk is to contact Fisher Excavations on the Storm Seer
Ditch.
Motion of Cerveny, 2nd Neuhas to pay the bills presented. MC.
No further business motion of Sheely, 2nd Neuhaus meeting
adjourned at $ ; 40 p.m.
