Bills presented for payment. 12 . Adjournment . CITY OF FAIRFAX The Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday August 8 , 1995 . Mayor Sheely called the meeting to order at 7 :00 p.m. , with councilmen Stallman, Root and Neuhaus . Absent - Wainwright and Shakespeare . Motion by Root to approve the agenda, minutes of the July meeting , Clerk' s budget and financial reports , 2nd Neuhaus . MC ,. Jim Crawford of Finn County Sheriff " s dept . delivered the report . Hooper Construction will be contacted about putting one lane signs out when they are partially on the highway during construction. Maintenance report -- Lud gave a report of the projects completed , and the projects they are working on now. Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Stallman to purchase a door for the southwest corner of the maintenance building . MC. Discussion was held on putting street construction on hold for this year because of the highway work and the possiblity of the traffic going thru town. Discussion on the trains blowing their whistle as it goes thru town. John Kostle requested the Council to talk to the C&NW. Mayor Sheely will talk to Mr . Crawford at the C'& NW. Dick Ransom, Hall & Hall presented the bads on the construction of the storm sewer along Vanderbilt Street from the existing storm sewer to Church Street . Dave Schmitt Construction Co . of Cedar Rapids was awarded the Contract for $17 , 536 . 90 , on a motion by Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus . MC. Project will be completed by Nov. 1 , 1995 . Motion by Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus to approve the bills presented for payment . MC . Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman meeting adjourned at 7 : 55 p .m. Mark E . Here is a brief summary that you can rework any way you'd like for your newsletter. The Gazette will be visiting your neighborhood soon. We hope you can join us for an old-fashioned block party when we visit the community of Fairfax on Tuesday, August 15, from 4 p.m, to 8 p.m. We'll have activities for the whole family, local entertainment and free refreshments.
