Swear in Mayor , New Council members . 22 . Adjournment . CITY OF FAIRFA The Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday December 12 , 1995 . Mayor Sheely opened the meeting at 7 : 00 P .m. Council present , Stallman, Root, Shakespeare and Wainwright , Neuhaus arrived at 7 : 04 p.m. Stallman made a motion to approve the Agenda, Minutes of the November meeting, Clerk' s Budget and Financial Reports , seconded by Shakespeare . MC. Maintenance Report : request to put shelves in the back of the maintenance building. Approximate cost $100 . 00 . Discussed who to call if we should have a water main break. Fire Department : Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Shakespeare to approve the appointment of Heath Allard to the Fire Department . MC. Chief Sankot discussed the purchase of a meter to check gases when they are called . They are to get prices and information with the possibility of the City and Fire Department sharing the cost .. It will be discussed at the January Council meeting . Discussed the possibility of increasing the townships and Walford Tax base . Bill Barry -- Emergency Management rep. - told the Council about his discussions with St . Patrick' s Church and American Legion, to use their facilities as Emergency Shelters . Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman to approve the renewal of the Liquor License for the American Legion and Star Hotel & Livery. MC. RESOLUTION 1212'95 - Paying the Maintenance Men for attending Council Meetings . Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Shakespeare . MC. Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Shakespeare to approve Linn Co . Bridge Inspection. MC . Linn Co. Sheriff ' s Department requested to watch the No Parking on Railroad Street, to keep it clear for snow plowing . Discussion on the speed of trains through town, the Clerk will contact the City of Bellevue for a copy of their Ordinance . Also some discussion on putting a street light on Williams Blvd . and Hwy 151 . Motion by Stallman, 2nd Shakespeare to pay the bills presented , plus the Mayor , Council and Firemen. MC . Mayor Sheely was sworn in for the new year , followed by Alisa Shakespeare and Jack Harville . They will take office on January 1 . Committes were set to work on the budget . Panek, City Clerk CITY OF FAIRFAX RESOLUTION NO. 121295 WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax , Iowa, desires to pay the City Maintenance Men $25 .00 per Council Meeting. The Maintenance men will alternate meetings , each attending six per year , starting January 1 , 1996 . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa, as follows : That the per meeting pay of the City Maintenance Men will be $25 . 00 per meeting'. You are permitted to only burn in a barrel , and there is no night burning. It was reported at the Council meeting that you were burning a big pile one evening when the wind was blowing.
