CITY OF FAIRFAX The Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday May 14, 1996 . Mayor Sheely opened the meeting at 7 :.00 p.m. Council present, Stallman, Wainwright, Shakespeare and Neuhaus . Harville absent . Motion by Stallman, 2nd Shakespeare to approve the agenda, minutes of the April 9th Council Meeting, Clerk' s Budget and Financial Reports.. MC Ron Share, Wholesale Parts, requested putting a sign on Hwy 161 , Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman, if they have DOT approval, and there is no site problems it was okay with the City. MC. The following building permits were approved: JoAnn Beer, screened porch and shed. Pat Flaherty, Porch. Tom Hutchcroft , Deck. Mark Nierling, Patio Deck. Tom Meyer, Shed. Selzer ' s Enterprises, an addition to Bob's Meats . All motions and 2nd' s carried. Park Committee discussed their plan for the new park. Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Wainwright to approve the Committees request for $5 ,000 to do the grading, old tree removal and put in the walkway as the first year plan. MC. Discussion with Linda Balog, Librarian on the Walford Contract . Sgt . Kline from Linn Co . Sheriff ' s Dept . ,it was suggested that they start watching cars park in areas that are prohibited. Motion by Shakespeare , 2nd Wainwright to approve the Voluntary Annexation of Tony Hocamp, 5105 Longview Dr. MC. Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Wainwright to contact IES Utilities about putting some street lights on E. Southview Rd . MC. Lud gave the Maintenance report . Several projects were discussed, Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Wainwright to approve replacing the #1 lift station, and getting bids for the work. MC. Motion by Stallman, 2nd Shakespeare to renew the Sewer Cleaning Contract with Howe Sanitation for Three ( 5 ) years . MC. Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Wainwright to sign the Union Pacific lease for ground at the top of the Lagoon. MC. The City will be looking for a part time deputy clerk. Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Shakespeare for the clerk to attend continuing education July 17--19 in Ames . M.C. Discussion with Fairfax Railroad Proposal Citizen Action Committee . The Committee was commended for the work they have done . Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Neuhaus to approve the bills presented for payment . MC. Meeting adjourned at 9 : 20 p.m. Mark E . Richardson' s First Lot 1 . ( See Attached Plat ) did make application dated April 15 , 1996 , for the annexation of said property to the City of Fairfax, Iowa. WHEREAS, it appears desirable and in the best interest of the City of Fairfax, that said property referred to in said application be annexed to the City of Fairfax, at this time, now therefore : BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA: that the property herein before described, and the same is hereby annexed to the City of Fairfax, Iowa, in the manner provided in Section 568 . 7 , Code of Iowa, and such property shall hereinafter be and become part of the City of Fairfax, Iowa.
