CITY OF FAIRFA :
The Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday June 11 , 1996 . Mayor
Sheely called the meeting to order at 7' : 00 p .m. Council peesent :
Harville , Neuhaus, Stallman and Wainwright.Absent Shakespeare ..
Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Wainwright to approve the Agenda, Minutes
of the May 14 , 1996 Council Meeting, Clerk' s Budget and Financial
Report . MC.
No represtative from the Sheriff ' s Department .
Building Permits : Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman to approve Bud
Burger for a new Deck. Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Neuhaus , to
approve John Thomas for a new Deck. Motion Stallman, 2nd Wainwright
to approve a new Garage for Tony Hocamp. Motion Stallman, 2nd
Wainwright to approve a new garage for Merle Hastings . Motion
Harville , 2nd Stallman to approve new Deck and Door for Kevin
Rigdon. All motions passed.
Vern Cerveny gave a report on the new park progress . Motion by
Wainwright, 2nd Neuhaus , John Otis will work on his Eagle Project
in the new Park. He will construct a sign, landscape around the
sign and paint the posts in the area and any other projects that
may help with the construction of the new park.
Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Wainwright to approve the renewal of the
Cigarette permits for HandiMart and the Star Hotel and Livery. MC.
Motion by Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman to approve the bid from Tennis
Services for the repairs to the Tennis Court at the Park. MC.
Maintenance Report : Ron to get some new quotes on the Lift
Station. Harville will tour the streets with Lud & Ron to determine
which streets will be done . New City Pickup is in.
Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Neuhaus for clerk to pay all incoming
bills before the end of the F/Y . MC.
Stallman made a motion to amend the salaries of the the three
City Employees from 10% to a 3% increase . 2nd Harville . Motion by
Neuhaus , 2nd Stallman to approve PAYROLL RESOLUTION 061196 —MC.
The Clerk will contact the City Attorney to change the Zoning
Ordinance on Accessory Buildings , to read Four ( 4 ) feet from any
lot line . Add to Building Permit Applications" All Applicants Must
be Present at the Council Meeting when their permit is being heard.
If they are not, the Council will table the permit until they are
present . "
Motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Stallman to pay the bills presented . MC.
Motion by Wainwright, 2nd Stallman to adjourn at 10 : 20 p.m. MC

RESOLUTION 061196
A RESOLUTION SETTING THE SALARIES FOR APPOINTED EMPLOYEES OF 'THE
CITY OF FAIRF'AX FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF 1'996/1997 .
HE IT RESOLVED BY 'T'HE CITY COUNCIL OF FAIRFAX, IOWA;
Section 1 . The following positions named shall be paid the
Salaries or wages indicated and the City Clerk is
authorized to issue checks, less legally required or
authorized deductions from the amounts set out below,
and make such contributions to IPEE ' S, FICA, and other
purposes as required by law, or order of the City
Council, all subject to audit and/or review by the City
Council.
CITY CLERK: $8 . 57 per hour M,T,W, & F ( 32 office
hours , 4 non office
hours , )
LIBRARIAN: $8. 24 per hour @ 23 Hrs per wk.
CHILDEENS LIBRARIAN: 5 . 45 per hour @ 13 Hrs per wk.
SATURDAY HELP: 5. 30 per hour @ 3 Hrs per wk.
Substitute Help: 5 . 00 per hour @ 59 'Hrs per yr .
MAINTENANCE MEN: $10 . 30 per hour 40 hours per week
Section 2 . OVERTIME: Any time over the regular hours shall be
taken off on another day as regular time .
Section 3 . The City shall provide the City Clerk and the
Maintenance Men with Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance ,
The City shall be responsible for the first $500 ( $'200
deductible plus $300 ) for each person covered. (SINGLE
POLICY ONLY . )
Section 4 . The City Clerk and Maintenance Men shall be paid for the
following Holidays : NEW YEAR ' S DAY, GOOD FRIDAY,
MEMORIAL DAY, 4TH OF JULY, LABOR DAY, THANKSGIVING DAY ,
DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS EVE DAY , AND CHRISTMAS
DAY.
Section 5 . The City Clerk and Maintenance Men shall be allowed four
( 4 ) sick days per year . The sick days may be accumulated
up to thirty ( 30 ) days . They shall be allowed three ( 3 )
Bereavement Days per year for immediate family members
only. (Spouse , Children, Parents, Brothers and Sisters ,
and in laws . ) They may not be carried over . They shall
be allowed two ( 2 ) personal Days per year , personal
days may not be accumulated. After using five ( 5 )
consecutive sick days , at the discretion of the Mayor,
a Doctor' s verification may be requested.
Section 6 . Vacation Schedule : Forty ( 40 ) hours after one year ,
Eighty (SO ) hours after three years , and 120 hours
after seven years .
