CITY OF FAIRFA
The Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday July 8, 1997 . Mayor
Sheely opened the meeting at 7 : 02 p. m. Council present : Stallman,
Harville , Neuhaus. Wainwright arrived at 7 : 05 p. m. Shakespeare
absent .
Motion by Stallman to approve the Agenda minutes of the June
Council meeting, clerk' s Budget and Financial Reports . Second
Neuhaus . MC.
Building permits : Steven Waln - Collision Center. Motion
Neuhaus , 2nd Stallman to approve the permit . MC. Frank and Mary
Gardner - Storage Garage . Motion Stallman, 2nd Wainwright to
approve permit . MC. Jeff Vance - Storage Building - Motion
Wainwright , 2nd Harville to approve the permit , Ayes Wainwright,
Harville , and Stallman. Neuaaus abstained. MC. Mike Trachta -
Addition to home Motion by Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus to approve the
permit . MC.
Kevin Costigan was given permission to remove the fence behind
the Trachta home to get the cement trucks in, and then replace 'the
fence.
Terry Johnson, W. Cemetery Rd. , requested the Council to do
something to clean out the ditch in front of his house so the water
will drain. The Council directed the Clerk to contact the Linn Co.
Health Dept . about the drainage from his septic system before
anything is done .
Philipps , Legion drainage problem. Mr. Philipps said he would
put a curb along the west side of his parking lot . The Council
directed the Legion and Mr . Philipp ' s to discuss their problem and
settle it without bringing the City into it .
Rita Nierling, Prairie Creek Park, requested additional funds of
$15 ,835 for playground equipment for the new park. Motion by
Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus to approve the spending for the equipment and
safety surfaces around the equipment . MC .
Sgt . Currans and Sgt. Hall presented the sheriff ' s report on
calls . Sgt . Hall requested the citizens let them know if there are
any suspicious vehicles seen in town.
The following agenda items were tabled till the August meeting,
Prairie Roadbuilders street estimate , Resolution from ECIGOG on
PUD, and Resolution 070897 - Airport 28E Agreement .
Motion Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus the clerk given permission to
attend the League of Cities meeting in Davenport in September. MC.
Discussion on the following: maintenance report , work session
set up with P&Z , and Board of Adjustment..
Special Council meeting will be held on Thursday July 10 at
12 : 30 p . m.
Motion Wainwright, 2nd Harville to approve payment of bills
presented. MC.
Motion to adjourn by Stallman, 2nd Harville at 9 : 45 p.m.
