CITY OF FAIRFAX
Fairfax City Council met on Tuesday September 9 , 1997 . Mayor
Sheehy opened the meeting at 7 : 03 p .m. Council present : Stallman,
Harville , Shakespeare , Neuhaus , Wainwright arrived at 7 : 05 p .m,
Motion by Stallman, 2nd Shakespeare to approve the agenda,
Minutes of the August Meeting, Clerk ' s Budget and Financial
Reports . MC .
Dick Ransom, City Engineer , discussed the Vanderbilt Street
project . Stallman moved that Mr . Ransom draw up the plans for
Vanderbilt , from Church Street to Railroad Street . 2nd Neuhaus , MC.
The Sheriff ' s report was presented . The Sheriff ' s Dept . will
monitor children on the streets in town late at night.
Mike Singer and Gordon Sevig presented the possible plans for a
subdivision and annexation on E . Cemetery Rd.
Building Pemits : Motion Stallman, 2nd Neuhaus to approve Don
Lacy' s permit for a new building. MC. Motion Neuhaus , 2nd
Wainwright to approve LeRoy Morgan' s permit for a new deck.MC.
Motion Stallman, 2nd Wainwright to appoint Jack Harville and Mike
Sankot to the Airport Zoning Commission, with Cory Stockton as an
alternate . MC .
Motion Neuhaus , 2nd Harville to send a registered letter to Mark
Reilly to remove his unlicensed vehicles from the rear of his
residence , within thirty( 30 ) days , and on the 31st day they will be
removed at owners expense . MC. Motion Neuhaus, 2nd Stallman for a
registered letter to Mark Reilly to remove the trailer from the
rear of his residence by Monday September 15th. MC.
Fire Department : There will be an Open House on October 12th ..
Chief Sankot discussed burning in Fairfax. „ Chief Sankot was given
permission to enter into negotiations for the purchase of property
for a new Fire Station on a motion by Neuhaus , 2nd Harville . MC .
Motion by Wainwright , 2nd Shakespeare to approve the Street Light
Resolution for new street lights at Prairie Creek Park. MC.
Maintenance Report : The maintenance men will make wooden picnic
tables for Prairie Creek Park.
The Clerk requested permission to attend IMFOA meeting in
October . Motion Shakespeare , 2nd Wainwright for the clerk to
attend. Ayes Shakespeare, Wainwright , Neuhaus and Stallman . Nay
Harville .
Wainwright moved to authorize Mayor Sheely to request that the
Linn County Board of Supervisors direct the Linn County Technical
Review Committee to expand the scope of its review of the proposed
SDP/CRANDIC ' S railroad spur to include the area of the project which
lies within Fairfa ' s City Limits . 2nd Neuhaus . MC ,
Motion Neuhaus , 2nd Stallman to approve the bills presented . MC.
Discussion on cats and dogs running at Large . City Ordinance
states that no cats or dogs may run at large .
Harville made a motion to adjourn at 9 : 20 p.m. 2nd Neuhaus . MC.

RESOLUTION NO. JQ 9 0 9 9 7 _
RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO
THE EASTERN IOWA AIRPORT ZONING COMMISSION
WHEREAS,the City of Fairfax believes that it is in the best interest of the public health,
safety, and general welfare that the creation or establishment of airport hazards in the vicinity of
The Eastern Iowa Airport be prevented,and
WHEREAS,the Eastern Iowa Airport Commission has adopted a new Airport Master
Plan that includes the future expansion of Airport runways, and
WHEREAS,new Airport Zoning Regulations and a new Airport Zoning Map must be
adopted to identify and protect the necessary airspace required for future runway expansion, and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Chapter 329 Code of Iowa(1997) an Airport Zoning
Commission shall be established to make recommendations regarding the adoption of Airport
Zoning Regulations which are to be administered and enforced within applicable airport hazard
zone areas,
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF FAIRFAX,
IOWA,that the Mayor is authorized and directed to appoint two members and one alternate to
serve on the Eastern Iowa Airport Zoning Commission for the City of Fairfax which shall meet
and act in accordance with Iowa.Code Chapter 329.9.
