Mayor Staliman opened the meeting at 7 : 00 p . m . Council present
Beer , Harville , Shakespeare , Stockton and Wainwright .
Stockton made a motion to approve the Agenda , Minutes of February
10th and March 4th Council meetings , 2nd Harville . MC ,
Mayor Stallman opened the public hearing on Vanderbilt Street
Project at 7 : 02 p .m . No objections public hearing closed at 7 : 03
p .m . Motion Stockton to approve RESOLUTION 98--3--10 , ADOPTING PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS , FORM OF CONTRACT AMD ESTIMATED COST OF PROJECT , 2ND

APPROVING FINAL PLAT OF KARAL ' S THIRD ADDITION TO THE CITY OF
FAIRFAX , LINN COUNTY , IOWA , MC ,
Chad Sands , ECIGOG, answered questions on Planned Unit
Development . (PUD ) Ordinance will be drawn up and acted on at the
April Council Meeting.
Sgt , Carol Currans presented the list of calls , she was asked to
check on vehicles that are being driven without license plates and
illegal parking .
Joe Zalesky and Bud Burger were requesting an access to the
property at the end of Main Street . The City will look into hhe
request and have more information at the April meeting .
Motion Wainwright, 2nd Shakespeare to approve the appointment of
Jeffrey Pottebaum to the Fire. Department , MC ,
Library report : Don Young has stepped down from the Board , Vernon
Cerveny was elected President , Berniece Kleppe Vice Pres dpot: ,.
Kathy Waychoff Secretary.' of the Library Bard ,
Local Option Sales Tax was discussed , the election will be halcl
on June 23 , 1998 in all Lino County Cities ,.
Motion Shakespeare , 2nd Harville nhe Clerk was given permission
to attend IMFOA meeting in Des Moines . HC .
Discussion on the following items : new street lights for

RESOLUTION ADOPTING PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS,
FORM OF CONTRACT AND ESTIMATED COST
1998 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
WHEREAS, on the 10th day of February 1998 plans, specifications, form of
contract, and estimated cost were filed with the Clerk of Fairfax, Iowa, for the
construction of the 1998 Street Improvements, Vanderbilt Street Project, within the
corporate limits; and
WHEREAS, notice of hearing on plans, specifications, form of contract, and
estimated cost was published as required by law:
NOW, THEREFORE, IBE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF FAIRFAX, IOWA:
That the said plans„ specifications, form of contract and estimated cost are
hereby approved as the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost for
said improvements for said project.

RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONTRACT
1998 STREET IMPROVEMENTS
VAN'DERBILT STREET, FAIRFAX, IOWA
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA,
That the bid of Cedar Valley Asphalt Co. Inc. of Fairfax, Iowa, in the amount of
$53,970.00, for the construction of the Fairfax 1998 Street Improvements Vanderbilt
Street Project, described in the plans and specifications hereto fore adopted by this
Council after public hearing, be and is hereby accepted, as the lowest responsible bid
received, and a contract is hereby awarded.

The contractor is hereby instructed to promptly execute the construction contract
and return the same to the City Clerk along with all the supporting documents required
therein, including surety bond covering work to be performed and proof of satisfactory
insurance coverage.
That the City Clerk, with the assistance of the Consulting Engineer is thereafter
directed to examine the contract for proper execution and all supporting documents,
including surety bond and (proof of insurance coverage to determine satisfactory
compliance with contract specifications. if all documents are in order the City Clerk shall
approve the same in writing and place written approval on f'iile in the office of the City
Clerk.
That the Mayor and City Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed to
executed the contract for and ion behalf of the City and upon execution the contract shall
be in full force and effect.
Passed and approved this 10th day of March, 1998.
