FAIRFAX CITY COUNCIL MEEETING
May 22 , 1998
Mayor Stallman opened the meeting at 7 : 00 P .M. Council present
Beer , Harville , Stockton and Wainwright . City Attorney, Liz Jacobi
and City Engineer , Dick Ransom were present ,
Motion Beer , 2nd Wainwright to approve the Agenda, Minutes of
April 14th Council Meeting, Clerk' s Budget and Financial Reports .
MC . Council Person Shakespeare arrived at 7 : 07 P.M.
Building Permits . Motion Stockton, 2nd Beer to approve the permit
for David Selzer for a ramp and roof over front entry. Motion
Harville , 2nd Beer to approve the permit for Tony Hocamp to erect
a deck. Motion Beer , 2nd Stockton to approve the permit for James
Koch to erect a deck. Motion Stockton, 2nd Wainwright to approve
the permit for Albert Wieneke to erect a shed. Motion Beer , 2nd
Stockton to approve permit for Kevin Everett to erect a garage .
Motion Wainwright, :2nd Beer to approve the permit of David Everett
to erect a deck. Motion Stockton, 2nd Beer to table the permit
application of Michael and Deanna Heintz for a car wash. All
motions carried.
Motion Shakespeare, 2nd Harville to approve the Cigarette Permit
for the Star Saloon, to take effect on July 1st . MC.
Thomas Parks and Pat Marshall , Linn County Housing Trust , and Jan
Alderton Pallesen, Fair Housing Specialist gave a brief discription
of their work in the County.
Terry Thompson, new Librarian, was introduced to the Council .
Fairfax Heights Sub Division - Discussion on the Development
Agreement . The City Attorney and Engineer discussed the 4 points
that the Council would need to give some direction on . Discussed
was to what extent the City would agree to pay to extend the mains
to the development , Gravity Sewer line , Tap in fees and easment for
storm water run off . A special council meeting will be held when
the Agreement is ready for signing.
Ron and Joyce Hilton were requesting permission to put dirt on
their lot on Williams Blvd , , to erect a Car Wash. With the
questions on water problems , the City Engineer suggested that they
submit a certified Site Plan to the Council .
Motion Beer, 2nd Wainwright to approve the 2nd reading of
ORDINANCE 212 - Planned Unit Development., MC .
Fire Chief Sankot presented the bid for the new Fire Truck of
$180 , 728 . Motion Harville , 2nd Beer to approve the bid . Stockton
abstained . MC.
Sgt Carol Curran presented the list of calls . She was asked to
make. sure that tickets start being issued for illegal parking.
Discussion on permit fees , peddlers agreements , yard waste pickup
and complaints about cats and cars .
Motion Harville , 2nd Beer to send the City Clerk to Clerk' s
Academy in Ames July 22-24 . MC .
Motion Beer , 2nd Wainwright of pay bills presented. MC .
Motion Stockton, 2nd Harville to adjourn the meeting and 10: 40
p. m.
