City Council Meeting
December 8, 1998
Mayor Stallman called the meeting to order at 7 : 00 p.m. Council
present : Beer , Harville , Stockton, Wainwright. Absent Shakespeare.
Beer made a motion to approve the Agenda., Minutes of the November
10th Council meeting, Clerk' s Financial and Budget Reports , 2nd
Harville . MC.
Building Permits : Wainwright moved to approve the permit of
Joseph and Roxanne Blood for an addition to a building at 60 B.
Cemetery Rd, and a 12ft storage building, 2nd Stockton. MC.
Shakespeare arrived at 7 : 10 p.m. Motion Stockton, 2nd Beer to.
approve the permit of Marianne Wainwright for a Horse Barn/Storage
at 50 Stallman. Dr . Ayes Beer, Harville , Stockton, Shakespeare .
Wainwright abstained,
RESOLUTION 98-12-08-1 , Annexation of . 06 acres from Donald and
Judith Heisler . Motion Beer , 2nd Wainwright to approve the
Resolution, MC.
RESOLUTION 98-12-08-2 , Approving the Final Plat of Fairfax
Heights First Addition to Fairfax , Iowa. Motion Wainwright , 2nd
Beer , to approve the Final Plat, MC. Stockton made the motion not
to release the signed Resolution until a new Plat , with Outlet Lots
A&B dedicated to the City of Fairfax is received , 2nd Beer . MC.
Motion Stockton, 2nd Shakespeare to approve the American Legion
Liquor License be renewed. MC.
Chief Sankot reported on the election, and the progress on the
addition to the Fire Station.
Sheriff ' s Department presented their report.
Motion Wainwright , 2nd Shakespeare to approve purchasing a new
Computer for the City, not to exceed $2,000 . MC . Stockton and Beer
will look into the purchase .
Motion Stockton, 2nd Harville to send the Iowa League of Cities
the request for funds for the Telecommunications Litigation. MC.
Discussion on compensation for the Planning and Zoning, E .
Cemetery Rd Closing, Building Codes, Snow Removal .
Library report , the Library Board will move its meeting date to
the 2nd Monday of each month.
Harville moved to approve the bills presented for payment , 2nd
Wainwright . MC,
Stockton moved to adjourn at 9 : 10 p.m. , 2nd Shakespeare .

RESOLUTION APPROVING PLAT
WHEREAS, a Plat of FAIRFAX HEIGHTS FIRST ADDITION-FAIRFAX,
IOWA, containing Lots 1 through 81 has been filed with the City Clerk and after
consideration of the same is found to be correct and in accordance with the provisions of the
laws of the State of Iowa and the ordinances of the City of Fairfax,Iowa, in relation to Plats
and Additions to Cities,
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
IOWA,that the said Plat and dedications of said FAIRFAX HEIGHTS FIRST ADDITION
-FAIRFAX, IOWA, be and the same are hereby acknowledged and approved on the part of
the City of Fairfax, Iowa and that the roads therein shown be and are hereby approved and
the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this Resolution of Approval and
affix the same to said Plat as by law provided.

RECOMMENDATION OF APPROVAL FOR FINAL PLAT OF FAIRFAX HEIGHTS
SUBDIVISION
WHEREAS, A FINAL PLAT of FAIRFAX HEIGHTS Subdivision to Fairfax, Iowa containing
nighty-one (81) lots numbered 1 through 81 inclusive, and Outlot A and Outlot B, has been filed
with the City of Fairfax Planning and Zoning Commission and after consideration of the same is
found to be correct and in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of Iowa and the
general planning of the City of Fairfax, Iowa;
NOW THEREFORE, THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION ACCEPTS AND
RECOMMENDS APPROVAL of said plat by the City Council for the City of Fairfax, Iowa and
the Chair of the Commission is hereby directed to certify this resolution of approval and affix the
same to said plat as by law provided.

said property to the City of Fairfax, Iowa.
WHEREAS, it appears desirable and in the best interest of the City
of Fairfax, that said property referred to in said application be
annexed to the City of Fairfax, at this time, now therefore:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA:
that the property herein before described, and the same is hereby
annexed to the City of Fairfax, Iowa, in the manner provided in
Section 368. 7 , Code of Iowa, 1983 , and such property shall
hereinafter be and become part of the City of Fairfax, Iowa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be authorized and
directed to file a certified copy of this resolution, together with
the application of the owners , with the Linn County Recorder and
thereafter to be filed with the Linn County Auditor .
