HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-24-2009 Special Meeting CITY OF FAIRFAX SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 24,2009 A special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at. Fairfax City Hall at 6:00 PM.. Mayor Voss presided. Council members present: Beer,. Frieden, Rabe, Wainwright. Absent: Magers. Others present: Larry Burger. Due to the absence of the Clerk, Nancy Flickinger recorded the minutes. Rabe moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Frieden.. Roll call vote: Ayes: Beer,. Frieden, Rabe, Wainwright. Nays: None, Motion carried. The Mayor announced that this was the time and place fixed by the Council for the consideration of bids for the purchase of the City's $790,000 General Obligation Corporate Purpose Notes, Series 2009. The Mayor announced that sealed bids were canvassed on behalf of the City on the 24th day of February, 2009, and the following sealed bids were received: Bankers' Bank, Madison, Wisconsin—3.8204% Northland Securities,Minneapolis, Minnesota—4.0042% UMB Bank, n..a., Kansas City, Missouri--4.5012% Apple River State Bank,Apple River, Illinois—4.5163 % Larry Burger, Speer Financial, Inc., stated that upon examination, it is of their opinion that the bid of Bankers' Bank, Madison, Wisconsin, in association with Fairfax State Savings Bank, Fairfax, Iowa was the best bid received and it is also their opinion that the bid is favorable to the City and should be accepted. Therefore, he recommended that the Notes be awarded to that bidder at a price of$785,260,plus accrued interest, if any,being at a true interest rate of 3.8204%. After due consideration and discussion, Wainwright introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption, seconded by Rabe. Roll call vote: Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Rabe, Wainwright. Nays: None. Whereupon, the Mayor declared the following duly adopted: Resolution No. 2009-02-10 entitled, "A RESOLUTION AWARDING $790,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION CORPORATE PURPOSE NOTES, SERIES 2009". Passed and approved this 24th day of February 2009. Wainwright moved that further action with respect to the approval of the Loan Agreement and the Issuance of the Notes be deferred until the next regularly scheduled meeting on March 10, 2009, seconded by Rabe. Roll call vote: Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Rabe, Wainwright. Nays; None. Motion carried. There being no further business before Council, Mayor Voss adjourned the meeting at 6:10 PM.
