Home My WebLink About09-15-2009 Special Meeting CITY OF FAIRFAX SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL METING SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 The special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at Fairfax City Hall, Mayor Voss called the meeting to order at 5.:34 PM. Council members present: JoAnn Beer, Bernie Frieden, Jason Rabe, Marc Magers, and Marianne Wainwright. Other city staff present: Cynthia Stimson and Nancy Flickinger. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Rabe to approve the agenda. Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Rabe, Magers, and Wainwright. Motion carried. Dick Ransom explained that the IDOT is requiring a geotechnical study, recommendation, and compaction testing along the highway embankment retaining wall as part of our Water Main Replacement Program, Phase I improvements Project. Hall and Hall have met with the 1DOT and learned they are concerned about the retaining wall as well as the integrity of the slope. Terracon has submitted a cost estimate of$9,800 - $12,300 for this work... Shane Wicks presented a list of anticipated costs from Rathje Construction for this part of the project. They will submit a change order for any additional costs at a later meeting. Discussion was held about the cost of the project, funding, and timing. Motioned by Magers,seconded by Rabe to approve hiring Terracon for the required analysis and testing during the Water Main Replacement Program,Phase I improvements Project along the IDOT retaining wall as outlined in their cost estimate„ Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Rabe, Magers, and Wainwright. Motion carried. JoAnn Beer asked that a newsletter article be written about motorized vehicles in the parks and that signs be placed in all of the parks. Nancy Flickinger stated that the demolition of the Emerson property should happen as soon as proper notifications are made. Mayor Voss stated that the water tower should be back in service by September 25. Motioned by Magers,seconded by Rabe to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Rabe, Magers, and Wainwright.
