HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/18/2014 Council Minutes CITY OF FAIRFAX SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 18, 2014 The Fairfax City Council attended the Fairfax Planning and Zoning Commission's regular meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Council members present were: JoAnn Beer, Travis Otto, Marc Magers, and Marianne Wainwright. Mayor Rabe also attended. Staff present: Cynthia Stimson and Lynn Miller. Mike Dufoe, from Hall and Hall Engineers, Inc, was also present. Joe Kell, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission called the meeting to order. Shane Schrader presented information about the rezoning request for the property located at Beverly Road and Williams Blvd. in Fairfax. He showed a layout of a proposed condo development and discussed design aspects, drainage, a traffic study, landscaping, and the construction schedule. Additional information was given by Mayor Rabe, council members, and staff. Joe Kell opened the public hearing concerning the rezoning request at 7:27 PM. Eight area residents were present to ask questions, gather information, and voice their opinions about this proposed project. Topics they discussed were: drainage, elevations, vehicle traffic flows, increased foot traffic, sidewalks, on street parking, lot size, out buildings, and street lighting. Joe Kell closed the public hearing at 8:12 PM. After discussion by the Planning and Zoning Commission members, they approved a recommendation to approve the rezoning request contingent on the issues raised by the city engineer and the addition of a requirement for street lighting. No formal action was taken by the Fairfax City Council. The Planning and Zoning Commission adjourned their meeting at 8:33 PM and the City Council members ended their discussions and left with everyone else.
