HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/11/2015 Council MinutesCITY OF FAIRFAX REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING August 11, 2015 The regular meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held August 11, 2015, at Fairfax City Hall. Mayor Pro Tempore Wainwright called the meeting to order at 7:12 PM. Council members present: JoAnn Beer, Marc Magers, and Marianne Wainwright. Absent: Mayor Jason Rabe, Bernie Frieden and Travis Otto. Other city staff present: Cynthia Stimson, Cathy Bayne, Kevin Stensland, and Lynn Miller. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Beer to approve the agenda. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Motion carried. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Beer to approve the city council minutes dated July 14, 2015, and July 28, 2015. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Motion carried. Motioned by Beer, seconded by Magers to place on file the Library Board of Trustee minutes dated August 4, 2015, and the Parks and Beautification Committee minutes dated June 18, 2015. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Motion carried. Linn County Deputy Sheriff Egli presented the list of calls. Doug Mueller, with Signal 88, stated things have been quiet. Cathy Bayne said the library is having a closet built in the entryway and that they had a great summer reading program. Lynn Miller reported that Chief Sankot is gathering information about the property next door, which is for sale; they may be holding a training class here next semester. Lynn Miller introduced Kevin Stensland the City's new water and wastewater operator and stated it is great having Kevin and Brian Merta as new employees, they are working out wonderfully. Kevin stated he will have a report ready for the next meeting. JoAnn reported that the Movie in the Park will be on Friday, August 14, and the detention area clean-up will be on Saturday, August 15. Concrete at the parks was discussed as well as a gap in the metal on the pedestrian bridge near Meadow Oak Circle. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Beer to approve the utility financial reports as presented. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Motion carried. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Beer to approve RESOLUTION 2015-64, A RESOLUTION APPROVING WAGES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. Roll call vote: Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Mayor Pro Tempore Wainwright declared RESOLUTION 2015-64 duly adopted. Motion carried. Motioned by Beer, seconded by Magers to approve the claims list dated August 11, 2015. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Frieden and Otto. Motion carried. Motioned by Magers, seconded by Beer to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Beer, Magers, and Wainwright. Nays: None.
