REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
September 20, 2017
The special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held September 20, 2017, at Fairfax city
hall at 300 801h Street Court. Mayor Frieden called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Council
members present: JoAnn Beer, Mike Daly, Joe Kell, Nick Volk, and Marianne Wainwright.
Other city staff present: Cynthia Stimson and Kim Donaldson.
Motioned by Daly, seconded by Kell to approve the consent agenda. Ayes: Beer, Daly,
Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Discussion was held about Kim's recommended hourly wage, the process, responsibilities,
and job descriptions.
Motioned by Wainwright, seconded by Kell to reconsider the payroll resolution from last
meeting. Ayes: Beer, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Motioned by Kell, seconded by Wainwright to approve RESOLUTION 2017-88, A
RESOLUTION APPROVING WAGES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES with the recommendation
that the job descriptions for the city hall staff be updated. Roll call vote: Ayes: Beer, Daly, Kell,
and Wainwright. Nays: Volk. Motion carried. Mayor Frieden declared RESOLUTION 2017-
88 duly adopted.
Joe Kell discussed a request from the Eastern Iowa Baseball League to use Fetter Field for their
entire season next year. They will be paying to use the field. FYSA will arrange for the rental.
Motioned by Daly, seconded by Beer to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Beer, Daly, Kell, Volk,
and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Mayor Frieden adjourned the meeting at 7:13 PM.
