HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/16/2019 Council Minutes CITY OF FAIRFAX SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING April 16, 2019 The special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Fairfax city hall at 300 80"' Street Court. Mayor Frieden called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Council members present: Travis Otto, Mike Daly, Joe Kell, Nick Volk, and Marianne Wainwright. Other city staff present: Cynthia Stimson and Chris Philipp. Motioned by Daly, seconded by Kell to approve the agenda. Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried. Motioned by Wainwright, seconded by Daly to allow a ditch burn as requested by Patrick Slater as long as Fire Chief Mike Sankot approves and the Fairfax Fire Department participates. Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Motion carried. Motioned by Daly, seconded by Otto to approve RESOLUTION NO. 2019-23,A RESOLUTION SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMENTS ON A REZONING REQUEST. Roll call vote: Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried. Mayor Frieden declared RESOLUTION 2019-23 duly adopted. Motioned by Daly, seconded by Kell to approve RESOLUTION NO. 2019-24,A RESOLUTION SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMENTS ON A REZONING REQUEST. Roll call vote: Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried. Mayor Frieden declared RESOLUTION 2019-24 duly adopted. Jon Larson, with Hall and Hall Engineers, Inc. discussed the splash pad project process. Motioned by Volk, seconded by Otto to approve RESOLUTION NO. 2019-25,A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING FOR SPECIFICATIONS, FORM OF CONTRACT,AND ESTIMATED COST FOR PROCUREMENT OF SPLASH PAD EQUIPMENT. Roll call vote: Ayes: Otto, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: Daly. Motion carried. Mayor Frieden declared RESOLUTION 2019-25 duly adopted. Mayor Frieden discussed a sewer project and street repair. Both of these problems need immediate solutions. A budget amendment is needed to authorize the extra expenses. Motioned by Daly, seconded by Kell to approve RESOLUTION NO. 2019-26,A RESOLUTION SETTING TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMENTS ON THE CITY'S PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2018-2019 BUDGET. Roll call vote: Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried. Mayor Frieden declared RESOLUTION 2019-26 duly adopted. Nick Volk asked about a Planned Development District. Marianne Wainwright asked a question about the splash pad. Motioned by Volk, seconded by Kell to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Otto, Daly, Kell, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
