Wl Race Agunst Cancer, an event inspired by Sandy Knight who lost her own fight against breast
i. rt• cancer in July—1991, Sandy is the daughter of Bill and Ellic Beaty and grew,up in Fairfax.
This year's race includes a 5KRun, 5K Walk and a 1-Mile Family'Walk. All proceeds are used
x to provide breast care services for women in need. Utilization of the "ESPECIALLY FOR
YOU" fund has increased consistently with over 1800 women accessing the fund to date.
A larger-th n-ever race is needed in 2002 to continue this vitally important program. The
Fairfax State Savings Bank invites you to participate as a member of our team. Here is your

members, A part of this drive is our membership annual beef dinner to be held on Saturday,
• Fire Department News September 28th at 6:00 PM in the post hall. Veterans consider coming and joining our post.

PAINTING AT THE LTBRARY
Can you help solve thismystery?
A large painting (12'6" x 4 ) depicting Faifax in
the early 1900's has been hung at the Fairfax
Library. The scene is Vanderbilt Street looking
south...from the library location...and on the
right is the Lefebure General Store. The
painting was found at ,in antique shop in Marion
and is neither signed or dated. Efforts to find
out about its origin have yielded nothing. If
anyone has any information relating to the
painting, please inform the library staff.
