Passed and approved this 13k"day of May 2008. Dick Ransom presented an estimate for installing water and sewer to Casey's General Store. It was the consensus of Council that the cost is prohibitive at this time and directed hansom to contact Casey's and have them make an offer with respect to the cost of installing the infrastructure. A discussion was held on Arp's drainage issue. No action was taken on this item. Council reviewed a list of properties that are In violation of the Code of Ordinances within the city limits and along Hwy 151, Maintenance was instructed to review and update the list before staff sends letters to those in violation of the code. Wainwright moved to accept Marta Concrete Construction's bid of$1475,00 for Installing a sidewalk located by the retention basin in Fairfax Heights Addi- tion and to postpone the installation of the sidewalk by the north entryway welcome sign, seconded by Magers. Roll call vote;Ayes: Beer, Frieden, Magers, Rabe,Wainwright,Nays:None. Motion carried. Magers moved to rent two portable restrooms from Port-O-Johnnie, seconded by Frieden, Roll caul vote: Ayes: FrIeden, Magers, Rabe,Wainwright.Nays: Beer.Motion carried, Tim McKeever updated Council on the plans and progress of the Prairie Creels Disc Golf Course, Magers moved to approve the claims list dated May 13,2008,, seconded by Wainwright. Roll call vote:Ayres: Beer, FrIeden,Magers,Rabe,Wainwright,Nays; None,Motion carried, Reports:(Library—Cathy Bayne reported on Library activities,Fire Department—Dan Zamastil reported on Fire Department's training activities.Mainte- nance Department—Ron Dusil reported on Maintenance Department activities and stated that they no longer had any use for the 1989 Chevy pickup and the dump box on the tonner, Staff was directed to advertise for scaled bids to sell these Items.Visioning Committee—Councilor Beer reported that the plantings at the north entryway sign should be completed within thirty days. Other items of discussion: Rick Rosenclahl discussed his concerns about the water going over the road on Southylew Rd; Barb Conner inquired about the ordinance pertaining to junk vehicles. There being no further business before the Council,Mayor Voss adjourned at 9:25 PM. MAYOR.Wil Voss ATTEST:Nancy Flickinger FAIRFAX FIRE& RESCUE PROUDLY SERVING FAIRFAX-WALFORD&SURROUNDING AREA With the spring weather putting the farmers behind this year, heavy farm equipment is still traveling back and forth on all our roads. Please be aware of your distances when approaching the farm machinery, since they move at a much slower speed. Also be aware of the width of the equipment because they take a larger part of the road to travel on and can't always move over. Think ahead and become a defensive driver, The members of the fire dept, would like to congratulate junior fire fighter Tyler Schwartz on being a 2008 graduate from Prairie High School.Tyler also received an outstanding service award from Prairie for all of his time volunteering in the community by way of the fire dept. Good luck in the future, The members would also like to congratulate and recognize Lynn Miller, Derrick Sexton, Steve Carrlger and Kevin Costigan for successively passing all of the classes and testing to become First Responders of the State of Iowa. These fire fighters gave up many nights going to school and studying to help out the dept.and better their communities. A job well done! Just a reminder that Walford Fun Day is June! 14.There are many things to see and do. Be sure to go to the fireworks that night. Also on June 28 is Fairfax U.S.A. Day. Don't miss the parade and festivities through out the day and evening. The shoot team has been busy planning since this winter.This year's fireworks will be guaranteed to be breathtaking.
