Pospischil called the meeting to order at 7:01pm and asked for additions or corrections to the

WHAT IS THAT BI.,' LIKING NEXTTO THE LIBRARY?
That big old white building next to the Fairfax library that at one time was the "Sullivan Hotel" is
the Fairfax Masonic Center. It is home to two Masonic Lodges and an Eastern Star Chapter. The
Masons are a fraternal organization that trace their roots to e ancient stone axons of medieval
00 f Europe that built castles and cathedrals that still stand today. The Masons (also known as the
Freemasons) are the oldest d largest fraternal organizationin the world.. There are more than two
million Freemasons in the world today. According to David Neuhaus of the Fairfax State Savings
Bank, the Fairfax Masonic lodge was the place to go during the depression. With very few people
having phones or even radios, they met at the lodge. Mason or not. it was a place to go for f
entertainment and of course the local goings on.

Kristopherson. For the older generation Mike me Mel Tillis, Roy Clark{ Roy Acuff, Ernest Borgnine,
Douglas MacArthur, and Mel Blanc (the voice of Bugs Bunny) are Masons all. Take a look in your
family tree, chances are you'll find a Mason.
Now that you know who we are, I will tell you what we do. The Freemasons are a very. charitable
group, over two million dollars per day goes to charity because of Masons. That two million dollars
funds programs for crippled children, cancer patients, care for the elderly, the homeless, provides
i/ scholarships for high school students, the list literally goes on and on. This money comes from our

Hall. Mayor Rabe called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM. Council members present: JoAnn Beer, Bernie

• Golf carts permits issued in 2012 expired December 31, 2012. Permits must be renewed annually in order
to legally operate golf carts on city streets. Golf cart permits are issued for golf carts only. ATV's or oth-
er types of vehicles which are not legal to operate on city streets are not eligible for a golf cart permit.
• Motorized vehicles may not be driven on the grounds at city parks. This includes snowmobiles, ATVs,
motorcycles, cars, etc. Please call the Linn County Sheriff s Department to report a violation.

There are many issues to remember concerning snow. Be sure to drive and walk careful-
ly. Slick conditions are beyond our control and can set in very fast. If you don't have to be out
during a storm, please stay in and stay safe. The City crew goes out to work, on the streets when
