P& Z COMMISSION MINUTES JANUARY 21 2014 FAIRFAX AMERICAN LEGION POST 572 Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes SOUPAND January 21, 2014 The meeting was called to order at 6:55 pm by Chairman Kell. Members present- Boxa, Kelly, Nurre, Mey- ers, and Schoon. Members absent - Kunze and Sobaski. Also present were City Clerk/Treasurer Cynthia PIE SUPPER , r Stimson and City Engineer Shane Wicks. _ 6 The minutes from the December 17"' 2013 meeting were reviewed. Motion to approve the minutes was given by Meyers and a second was given by Kell. All ayes, minutes approved. 216 Main Street in Fairfax We have a new member to the Planning and Zoning Commission, Kali Schoon. She has lived in Fairfax for a year and a half and will be a great asset to our committee. Saturday, February 15 , 2014 Discussion started concerning the zoning map. An overall review of the map was done, so we can see where we started and how many improvements had already been done on the map. There are a few changes 5 .00 PM t0 / . O PM that still need to be done, such as the land that was recently purchased by the City of Fairfax for the new trail and for the drainage improvements which need to be changed to CN. We will be ready to make a mo- tion next month, pending a few slight changes to the zoning map. Adults $8 .00 We moved onto a related issue, the rezoning request for the property the City just acquired. The first area is a strip of land behind the EIB building off Williams Blvd. This was acquired to further the plans for the Children Ten and Under $3 .00 Fairfax Trail. The other area is a strip of land just south of East Cemetery Road that the city acquired to im- prove the water drainage in that area. It will help change the flow of the water, so it can drain more easily. The City of Fairfax requested we review the proposed zoning change from Ag (Agriculture) to CN N (Conservation & Public Use). Meyers made a motion to approve the zoning change and a second was given SERVIl \ � • by Boxa. All ayes, motion carried. 1. This is the first meeting of 2014, so we had to review and elect officers. The IDOT permit has been verbally approved. We are still waiting for the permit. Jeff Iben will be given a quote to install tile in the bottom of his detention basin for better drainage.
